Well, Tsitra100, Would you mind quoting which scientists exactly, and where, and a URL if possible please? There are just too many Doom predicting scientists, and non of them actually have a solid proof that what they are saying is indeed so. The Earth has the ability to wipe us out if and when she gets tired of our Abuse on her. It has happened many times before - just think of the Big Flood as example, and will most certainly happen again, i one form or another. The Maya's had predicted that in the year 2012, the North Pole and Antarctica will change places with one another...and this will be a major disaster for most if not all of us...yet, the Earth will continue to be where it is now. I hope some of us will survive and will be able to tell what will happen after. :)

One of the effects of the earth dying (slowing down) is the North Pole and the Antarctica changing places. p.s do research on The Center Of The Earth or check out National Geographic

I would just like to point out that the Maya civilization no longer exists and they practiced human sacrifice regularly. So, I am loathe to take their predictions very seriously. To my knowledge there is no indication from any scientific or astronomical studies that the earth is going topside down on its axis anytime soon. The earth spins on its titled axis, it doesn't do backflips.

Hi Rollo1, personally I don't see what the human scarifices have to do with how advanced were the Mayas in their stallar knowledge. And I am keeping an open mind in regards to their view of the Earth going to top down on it's axis, than the views of "mad scientists" like the one you mentioned above :)

Okay, I found an article that says the earth is slowing down by infinitesimal amounts, tiny little nanoseconds and every so often they have to add a leap second to the atomic clocks. Over a period of several thousand years or so, this could make a difference of an hour or two but for now, it's not noticeable except that they have to adjust the clocks with an extra second every so many years. All this means is that when you think days at work are getting longer, you are right. Earth days are getting longer but it will take thousands of years to be enough to notice and the earth won't die because of it.

Well, I am not going to purchase a DVD in order to know what your topic of discussion is about. If you watched it, and you understood what they said, why can't you just tell us? In what way is Earth dying? Have you been to the center of the Earth? Is is creme or caramel? Please, throw me a bone here, tell me what you are talking about.

Hi tsitra100, I've never of that. 100 years is not very long. Humans may destroy the earth long before that of course, if we don't learn to live together in peace.

I think no, because nowadays we are aware in our mother earth, we have biodegradable materials, we recycled, we less use of plastics. So its not true the earth could die. We love our planet.
