Rspect cannot be forced but it comes automatically from within. For me the most imp. criterion for respecting him/her is honesty and trurhfulness.He/she should be having strong personality with caring and down to earth attitude. There should not be an air of superiority .What do you think on this?

Respect is a feeling of social approval and high regard for another individual. Some general qualities of a person which make us to respect one... Aiding someone in need without expectation of reward Confidence and pride in oneself while simultaneously being considerate of others Honesty at all times, but especially in a moment of tension Holding the respect of a third party that the individual admires (following the masses) Achieving a goal or holding a societal status that the individual desires

I also think respect cannot be forced. I think respect comes from having integrity, honesty, and just a genuine care for other people. If you treat people the way you want to be treated and talk them to them how you would like to be talked to, they in turn will communicate on your level more times than none. I was also brought up to have respect for my elders too. I think that is the problem with a lot of people, they want to come into a situation having a certain level of respect and it comes off very rude and cocky. Some people you can look at them and see that they are worthy of respect by the way they carry themselves too.
