Why do you blog?

People blog for all sorts of reasons. My son got me into the game when I sent him an email describing my journey to America - he said I should write a blog about my thoughts on the American experience. I tried it and got hooked.
Then I found I wanted to blog about other thoughts as well and my blog became a combination of all sorts of thoughts and tales. But I was still blogging for my family more than anything else. Until the readers began to arrive, of course. That was when I began to "respond to the market", taking care with my writing and thinking carefully about what I should write about.
These days I blog for money. I have several blogs and all are intended to pay, although I still only write about things I care about.
So why do YOU blog?

Ahah! You're an explorer and a communicator, Cikedo. A noble aim, to spread the word about new and exciting things - I applaud you. And you demonstrate yet another use for blogs: to extend our experience of the new, allowing us to see more clearly where we are going. Thank you for your intelligent comment. :)

It's going to sound strange, but I blog mainly as an organizing tool. I have been writing book reviews for some time now for different sites, and I decided to create a blog to put all of the reviews in one place. So far, however, I don't have much traffic to the site. I am fairly new at blogging...I only began a few weeks ago. I need to learn more about the ins and outs of blogging and how to add pictures of books, for example. I'm hoping to get there eventually.

It's amazing how many uses there are for a blog - you have just shown me a new one, AnythngArt. There are various ways to increase traffic but you probably want to get the page looking the way you want it to before you you start any great hunt for traffic. Getting pictures up depends on what blog platform you use, WordPress, Blogger, or any of the many systems out there - all have their quirks and preferred ways of doing things.
My son wrote the software for my blog (he's a web developer) so I don't have any experience of using the other options and probably wouldn't be much help in getting pictures up. But, if you want to discuss ways to increase traffic, you could email me or put a comment on my personal blog (addresses at http://www.madtv.me.uk/goneaway.aspx).

Your blog has a very nice design. Your son did a great job. I just use a template from Blogger, so at least I don't have to worry about the basic layout, but it's the bells and whistles that I want.
