Yesterday my employer announced the annual increments to all the employees and i was also one of them. It was a big increase in my salary but i refused to take it. You might be thinking that why i refused to take that increment. It's because last month when i told them that i'm applying in GOverment Sector and i'm in need of Experience Certificate as well as of No objection certificate that took my application and asked me to wait for some time. After this for the next 3-4 days there was no reply from their side. A day before interview when i contacted them, they were in no mood to talk to me. They(Management Commitee) were simply putting the case on each others shoulders. They kept sending me here and there and in the last they refused to talk to me directly. On the last moment they just conveyed their decision through telephone and it was "Sorry, We can't help you." Even then i went for that interview and the good news is that i'm one of the selected candidate and my employer are still not aware of this. Now, what you think whether i did the right thing or i should have taken that increment?

Hello helloravinder, First, I want to congratulate you for getting a big increment. Second, I don't really get you for not taking that increment. Will it be a problem for you to take it and then decide to leave the company? Or there is a rule to abide that says we can't take the increment if we are going to leave the company? I am not too sure for the reason. If there is nothing that can harm you later, why don't you just take the increment first? It is money right? And I do believe you need the money. Later when you decide to leave, you can just tell your boss that you are leaving. Well, I am not too sure if I give you a good advice. But hope you will be able to solve the matter soon *smiles*

Thankx. I refused to take that increment because i want to give a reply to my employer for all that he did to stop me from getting new job and that too in a silent manner. For your advice i'm thankful and hoping you'll continue with this.

Hello helloravinder, Thanks for the best response. Okay, does it mean you want to quit your present job without telling your boss? Normally here when you want to quit, the boss will call you up and asks why you decide to leave the company. I think if the same situation happens there, you can tell him directly why you need to resign and find another job. That was what happened to me last time. When I submitted my resignation letter, the boss called me to his room. I told him that I was unhappy with the working environment and I needed a more challenging job. He understood me and let me go to another company.

Follow your heart.. do what you think is the best for you. If you're happy with your former job i don't think you will apply at the government section didn't you? So, go where your heart is. Money can't buy happiness.
