What scary movie had the most affect on you? Are you STILL scared of something?

I watched The Birds when I was a kid and I am STILL scared of birds to this day. When I look out and see birds lining the telephone wires, I get nervous. Once a bird got in the house and was nervous and flapping its wings and flying around my head and I am about died. You could have heard me scream in another country.
I love scary movies and most don't linger but that one does. The other one is one where the murderer is calling from inside the house and the cops call and tell the person that. ACK! That scares me still too. I won't even mention that I do think of the shower scene from Psycho when I shower and no one is home (Darn Alfred Hitchcock!).
What scary movies have stayed with you and made YOU scared? Am I the only one to have suffered trauma from watching so many scary movies?

I like watching scary movies. But the most scary horror film I watched is the Exorcist, may it be the old and the new. I feel really scared about it especially when linda blair's head turns 360 degrees. I also am scared of the grudge where a hand touches the girl's head in the shower.

I still don't watch a lot of scary or suspense movies. When I was a kid there was this Filipino movie I watched which gave me trauma until now. It was called Shake Rattle and Roll. It was a collection of 3 stories. One of the story in that movie was about a young girl who imprisoned her sister inside a cabinet because of jealousy. Until now whenever I see old closets and cabinets at night I get scared and I imagine them opening by themselves.
There is another movie that scared me when I was young, I think it was about doll monsters. I don't like having dolls in my room, my imagination gets wild and I sometimes imagine them moving and thinking.
When I am home alone watching movie I make sure I don't watch something scary, or else I won't be able to sleep, like last night, I watched a CSI NY episode where the killer slits their victims eyelids. The cadaver looked like it was looking at me and I wasn't able to sleep. :)

I love horror and scary movies. I always watch them when I am alone. It really makes me bit scary and thrilled. That's funny part.
Apart from movies I mostly watch real life ghost encounter and documentary on such subjects. I think in our world there are so many things, about which we know very less. And things which are unknown to us makes us feel scare.

Well - I've always had somewhat of a fear of spiders to begin with. There have been several movies like arachnophobia, & several others, that I cannot remember the names of, that sort of re-inforced that.

Jack Nicholson's The Shining was quite scary, probably because of his very convincing acting. I can still hear that kid saying "redrum", which is reverse of "murder".
But in terms of effect the movie had on me, it would have to be Jaws, because now I'm definitely afraid of sharks and I wouldn't dare go swimming in shark-infested waters!

oh i hate those porcelein dolls lol!
I think i was about 11yrs old or so when i saw Poltergeist. you remember that scene with the little boys clown hiding under the bed then jumping up from behind him?! aaagh! that part freaked me out!
and then to make matters worse, my little sister used to have this bozo the clown type doll. it had a push button on its stomach that made it laugh..in that super creepy Pennywise way (lol i totally forgot out IT!!) she would sleep with that thing and we had bunkbeds. in the middle of the night she would roll over and that thing would start cackling!!!
lets just say it lived for about a week, then mysteriously disappeared!

The two movies that really got to me years ago was Psycho (Darn Alfred Hitchcock!) and The Exorcist.
My husband still thinks it's funny to surprise me in the shower... if he only knew!
The Exorcist scared the bejeebers out of me the first time I saw it, I was fairly young and a Christian at the time. We of course were taught that Satan can possess people and turn them into horrible monsters.
It's strange you bring this up today because The Exorcist was on TV last night and no longer being a Christian or believing in a Satan, I find the movie rather funny though a bit gross in spots. It's a good horror movie but the inner trauma that I once felt is gone. It's still a classic.

The Exorcist scared the crap out of me when I was a youngster and I still can't watch it again. In fact, when I hear "Tubular Bells", my hair stands up straight! Also hard to admit, but The Blair Witch Project scared me. I wasn't fully aware that it was fake! lol.

I'm not a fan of scary movies but what movies that really scare me the most are ones like He Knows Your Alone or When A Stranger Calls. Movies that are about real people and not fictional like Freddy Crueger(? spelling).

I hardly take a shower. I watched Psycho and I always got nervous when I heard that E E E E! and I see the knife coming down, see Janet Leigh's face, and then you see all that blood going down the drain. That is very scary. I will also make sure that I stay in the car when we drive through rural areas and see a whole bunch of birds looking menacingly from a telephone pool. The modern horror are just too much sensation. The old black and white ones, now they were scary.

i guess im just not one of those easily scared ppl. ive seen a lot of "scary" movies but only one has ever had any lasting affect on me.
compared to the special effects of todays movies its kind of cheesy looking to watch it now..but it's Jaws.
in its day, Jaws was the scariest freaking movie ever lol! thousands of ppl refused to go swimming at beaches because of that movie. i even remember hearing that the tourist revenues for cities known for their beaches was down big time the year Jaws hit the theatres.
since then ive seen a lot of nature shows about sharks and such, and know that what the shark did in Jaws is pretty absurd...but i still wont go swimming in the ocean! no way! knowing MY luck i will be the 1 person in billions to suddenly have a killer great white after me for Vengeance. lmao!

That's good because you have good mind memories' attachment and your mind focusing as well. OK mine? was the 70's story if you can remember "The voyage to the bottom of the sea", where the submarine life had been the features of the whole story. Every time I closed my eyes while taking shover, I remember that submarine voyaging the bottom of the sea. That story really traumatic. Yeah...you can imagine, my age now 46, and that movie aired on TV when I was 10 years old. So it greenly roams in my brain memory now for 36 years and for the whole of my life.
And I hope, I can go to Hollywood Film Industry and to "refurbish" that movie...and to make me trillianaire...HA HA HA HA HA...
