Should linux be actually learnt for using it unlike windows ??

I am currently thinking of using linux and my friends have suggested that one should first learnt o use linux as there are a lot of commands and stuffs which are required....
so far for windows i never learnt anytthing but as i used it i got accustommed to it...

Yeah go ahead and use it..we should promote the Open source revolution..since no one dominate any firm any longer as windows did..we need to an alternate to windows otherwise we become virtual slaves of windows..it even helps windows get better to stand competition..

Hi,
The best of learning anything in life is to start using it.So, my advice is that..better you start using linux and face some problems...whenever any problem occurs..try some googling regarding that problem.In most cases,you'll be able to find the solution to that problem,apply it and you're done.In this way,you'll learn linux and will get accustomed with it.So,go ahead and best of luck.:-)

well, at some point of using Linux, u feel that ur friend is correct.
it not easy trouble shooting linux compared to windows.
yes, now a days lot of Linux are available, which r very user friendly like, Ubuntu, Mandriva.
even with these Linux some time u face problems loading GUI. then what u can do?
my suggestion is,
it is better to learn Linux commands, at least basic commands, along with using

Friend , some linux distributions like ubuntu, kubuntu, debian r very user-friendly like Windows xp... I have used these all distribution n they really rocks.
The actual problem of linux is the applications. The applications installation is not like windows. in window we run exe n software gets installed. u see its not like that. n even software of linux r not user-friendly...
So for few days u will love linux but after few days u wont.
