My husband thinks Im wierd {I just might be LOL} When I eat I have to have the light on so I can see what Im eating. It dosent matter if I know whats in it I have to see it. If I cant see it I dont want to eat it. I dont know why this is. Do you have to see your food when you eat it?

No you are not weird, you have a good sense of self preservation. Recently my partner treated me to chicken in batter with fries from our local chip shop. The batter looked a little strange, and thank goodness I investigated, there was a whole hornet complete with sting, which must have fallen into the fryer. It would have been nasty if that had gone into my mouth and I would not have seen that in the dark! That is an extreme example but it scared me! If you can see what you are eating you can see if it isn't quite right and whether any "livestock" has landed on it. Let him eat in the dark if he likes, you stay safe and enjoy your food, just like I do!

I'm the same way! The only exception might be certain snack foods under certain conditions. Like popcorn in a movie theater or chips while I'm here at the computer. I don't know that it's so much that I LOOK at my food, I just prefer to see what I'm eating. I don't want to be blindly stabbing with my fork or scooping with my spoon.

you mean you have to watch the spoon that get closer to your lips, that contain food in it? so in the movie theatre you have to look down for your popcorn before you eat it too? you will miss the whole movie if the popcorn not finish.lol

Hello! Yes, I like it that I see my food when i'm eating it, I don't think it's weird as i'm like that as well *maybe we both are weirdos..LOL!* I like seeing it, especially in a restaurant, I want to see how the food is being presented on my plate, the colour combination of the food just gives me appetite. And I think its better that we eat with lights on, just in case some bugs or insects lands on our food and we might eat it..eewww..and so we can see if there's some bones or whatever it is. Thanks for sharing. Take care. cheers! :D

Yes, I prefer to see what I'm eating as well. I will feel uncomfortable if I can't see what I'm gonna eat. That is precisely I hardly eat in the cinema.

You better believe it. I have to see it or it isn't going to get eaten. I am not sure what I think is going to jump out at me but I want to see whatever it is before it sees me...lol

Hi copperkitten! I never thought of that being weird. I do want to see the food I am going to eat just the same. I do want some light turned on so that I could enjoy what is on the table and on my plate. Take care and have a nice day!

Hi, yes i do need light and good and proper lights, to see what i eat too. I dont like a dimly lit room at all, nor for sitting around to read anything, nor for eating food. I also know of some people who dont like brightly lit rooms and would keep switching the lights off, preferring it to be dimly lit, saying there is no need for so much of light or you dont need to see the food etc. Its different when the lights go off and we have no other choice but to sit and eat in the dim lights, but otherwise its a definite no-no for me. Reason mainly being that i like to enjoy and see each bite of my food that i eat. Beside the taste, its the sight of food too that adds to the taste. Plus, we need to be careful to see that no insects fall into the food, and to see if others have liked the food that i have made!! :)

I have to have light when I'm eating, anything could crawl into your food without your knowledge and you could end up eating something you didn't order.

LOL! You're not the only weird one then. I do the exact same thing, and so does my hubby. Even though I already know what is on my plate, I just have to have that light on. I think it's something my mom drilled into my head when I was a kid. LOL

Like above I want to know where to stab my fork and use my knife. I just would find it distastefull to go searching around on my plate with my hands for the food not to mention quite messy. And then there is the problem of knocking beverages over when trying to find them. You probably didn't mean this as literally as I have taken it above. But yes, I want to see my food to eat it.

well i won't say its weird because i myself do that..so i don't want to call myself weird..lol;-)..i can not eat my food without watching or looking at it..why i do so is..may be there can be any insect in it...(just a reason..it has never happened in fact)..or may be my reflexes are set like that i mean i may not intentionally do that..but it happens on its on...i wonder people who eat with candles only(there are some..but i am not criticizing them)..what if they have insects fell into their food..geezzz..i am talking about candles and insects are attracted towards candles...lol

Maybe we're both weird, but I'm the same. It's not even a matter of seeing the food while I'm eating it, but I like to know that I haven't spilled any etc. I much rather having some light in the room when I'm eating.
