It is probably impossible for J.K. ROwling to be as sucessful with any other novels than the harry potter series. Now she is writing a crime mystery novel. I have read the first two books and they both seem like mysteries to me. Are you going to read her new books?

Personally i have no idea why Harry Potter has been so big. Roal Dahl books were just as good, if not better. I started reading a Harry Potter book a while back and couldn't get into it. I enjoyed watching the movies but they weren't anything to do a song and dance over. I guess we all have own likes and dislikes.

Never heard of Roal Dahl! Have you heard of "The Witches", "Charlie and the chocolate factory", "The BFG" and "James and the giant peach"?? There are heaps more but they are the only ones i can think of for now.

Well sometimes writers with talent get lucky and their books sell, like J.K. Rowling! Never Heard of ROal Dahl, is it of the same genre? THanks for the reply nikkiwith.

I haven't heard nor read any of J.K Rowling's mystery books. Maybe because I have no idea of what she is writing after her successful Harry Potter Series. And you are definitely right, J.K Rowling admitted it herself that she can never ever write a book as famous and most-wanted and awaited as the Harry Potter series which were turned to movies. When I can hold a copy or buy her books, I will definitely read it.. read and not comparing the new book with the harry potter series. :) Best of luck to all!

Yes that is a mistake many people make, comparing a series or genre from one author to another of the same author. THanks for sharing zaichn.

Wow you're one of the first people i've come across that doesn't like harry potter! I agree with you mostly, but i did find the movies entertaining, not great, but entertaining.

This is news for me..I hadn't heard she was writing mystery books... I think whatever books she writes after the Harry Potter fame will guarentee her success as well as everyone will be curious what her next books will be like, but I don't think anything could really top her HP series

As much publicity as this woman has gotten over the past 10 odd years with the HP books I think it's a fair bet that anything she writes in the future will be a hit before anyone even knows what the book is about at least until people get the hint she's not writing anymore HP books and will not have any references, cameos, or any other such elements in her future books. Even if she doesn't sell another book she's already banked a ton so I don't think she's too worried :)

So true evanpoe. Anything she writes will be purchased by many, but who knows? it might be good. Yea she is pretty set with the harry potter books so she has nothing to worry about. So she can afford to write something that she likes and others might not like.

I don't really think she wrote Harry Potter because someone told her "hey, that's a great idea," instead she wrote it because Harry practically walked in her compartment on the train and sat down next to her and told her about his life. J.K. Rowling is an awesome writer and I believe she will continue to be successful. Plus, getting her name know is already done, so people will be more likely to follow her. That is until she decides to not write.

I have loved all of her books so far. I've got the whole Harry Potter series. I'll have to give her new books a read and hope they are good. I don't know how on earth she could top Harry Potter but she's an excellent story teller so I'll have to approach them with an open mind and try not to compare them!

I hope the best for her new books too... I wouldn't cross my fingers that they are better than the Harry Potter books because it is a different genre. Thanks for the reply arsonizta.

I'll definitely give them a try. It's doubtful that she'll have the same success with anything that she's had with Harry Potter, but it doesn't really matter. As long as she still loves writing. There'll be some people who hated the HP books who will love her new stuff. There'll be some people who love HP who'll hate the new books and there'll be some people who will buy and read anything she puts out simply because she wrote the HP books. So I doubt she'll be lacking in the sales department.

I might try them out. Of course I have to finish the harry potter series first, which I know will be a long time from now lol. It is good that she writes what she enjoys.

I'm not sure how it is going, I just read an article that she is writing a crime/mystery novel in Scottland's cafes. I believe Harry Potter was sort of like a mystery so they would have that similarity. Not sure what the title of her novel is, or if she even knows what it is. Thanks for the reply dannakatrina.

I didn't know she had wrote anything other than the Potter books. I might give them a shot. She has an easy lilting writing style that could make for a good mystery!
Dsantacruz, what are the names of her other books?

The Harry Potter Books are childish but her new books are supposedly mystery/crime novels, quite different from her first series. Thanks for sharing deadlydawn.

Well, I guess I will give it a try, although I"m not sure if I will enjoy her style in another genre. IN any case I will certainly try , I like mysteries anyways.
If I like it, then it's perfect and I'll continue, if I don't then I will no not to get more :)

I agree it won't be as highly anticipated as the Harry Potter Series. But JK Rowling is a talented writer, she'll be ok.and Yes I will continue reading her books, whatever genre it will be.
