What internet games do you play?

Recently I discovered the online game Travian and was hooked immediately (no, I'm not going to tell you where it is - I have enough competition already!). There are nearly 15,000 active players involved in the game and I know that other games such as Halo have far more players. That adds up to an enormous number of us who spend at least some of our time in the virtual worlds that online computer games create. I wondered if other MyLotians play games online too.
So, what online games do you play?

Travian? What kind of game is it? Word? Arcade? Trivia? other? I like playing word games, ....I guess I like the idea of keeping my brain active while having fun, so I play Text Twist or the recently discovered (by my sister) "8letters" game. That's about all I play online these days. A few years back when Sony had their games site (something like "station.sony.com" somewhat different to what they have now) with games like Chain reaction etc, I used to play quite a lot. That was another word game. I enjoyed a lot. I even started writing out puzzles for the game to submit them, because they also had the option where players could submit those.

Travian is what used to be called a god game in the days of Populous for the consoles. Essentially, you're given a village that you have to nurture to keep it strong and make it grow. Then you can get to the point of planting new villages or, if you're that way inclined, you can raid other villages and steal their stuff. Which means you have to defend your village against those who ARE that way inclined. The ultimate goal is empire, I suppose.
I do enjoy puzzle games as well, however, and spend quite a bit of time playing Word Whomp in Pogo.com. There's a brilliant little strategy game called Slay that I also play a lot but it's not an online game - you download it and play alone.

That sounds like fun, Beekay. I'm not a great fan of cricket but I know that games one might not like in real life can be winners on the computer. Golf, for instance - I'd never play it for real but I found this great little golf game years ago that was great fun to play. Hmmm, I wonder if I could find another one like that on the net...

Hi Meds. Really, I think you're already playing the games that I like too. The only other site that I can suggest is Pogo, where they have quite a wide variety of games. It's free and you also have the chance of winning prizes (although I haven't won anything yet). Otherwise, I haven't really been to a lot of online games sites - like you, I used to play just games on the computer and the online thing is pretty recent with me.

Hey, I play Yahoo Pool too, Farazkh! It's a good little game to while away a few minutes with. A good place to start out with games is www.pogo.com - lots of small java-based games that don't require very high specs from the computer. They are mostly puzzle games, word games, slot machines, that kind of thing, but they're free and there's a chance of winning prizes too.
Otherwise you could try googling "free online games" - that should give you a huge selection and there's bound to be some in there that you'd like.

I like to play games on Pogo. Although I know that it is highly unlikely, I like to plan on winning the jackpot and imagining how I would spend the loot.
I tend to like word games or puzzles, solitaire or blackjack, but I don't like gambling games that would cost me real money.
Travian sounds like a game requiring time and deep thought. At the end of a long day and work and wrangling with the kids, I have neither.

the only online games i play are the ones on yahoo. I usually play between Literati, Texas Hold em, Blackjack, Spades, or dominoes. sometimes I play other games but most of those you have to download and it's only a trial.
