hi friends..many of you must have faced this problem when you were new here i suppose..as i am facing it right now..my problem is whenever i try to start a new discussion just for clearing some doubts or for the sake of one new discussion added to my account or for sharing my views or any other cause which i'll be thinking in the time to come..i always see many of the discussions already existing..then i think what else to post..??do you think its bad if we start our own discussions without caring for the existing ones..??what if you want to ask something in your own way..??i am asking here for both mylot rules as well as ethics concerning multiple repeats..??i am not taking any thing very seriously and just want to clear my doubts..

Yeah you will be risking having it and all the replies to it, deleted if it get's reported. If you can't change the idea of it from what other's have, you are better off saving the idea for later. I have noticed the search option only goes back so far, but I can't remember how far it is. So if it shows up in the search it's not that old. I would wait if I couldn't put a diffrent spin on it. It's not worth causing people to lose points, you know?

hey what if you have not done anything intentionally...there is only one discussion which i came across after posting mine..which was similar to me...so there need to be ultra new ideas..ok i got it..i will go for them...obviously it has a great population and its probable that there will be many discussions that get repeated all unintentionally...as it carries logic according to law of probability...yes you are right sunshine who will want to loose points..

There are so many discussions that it's hard to figure out what's been discussed and what hasn't. I don't start many discussions so I'm not much help. I've done much better finding discussions that I can reply to instead. I don't want to be accused of copying anyone either. It gets complicated trying to start a new discussion unless you just post about personal experiences.

yes i have also started replying to discussions more than to post...not because of the the reason i am discussing here..but just like that..so as to listen to others also as they listen to me..it won't work if everybody starts posting..;-)..so i found your suggestion helpful too TheCatzMeow..but even the personal reasons are becoming so common..lol...

If you seriously believe that your doubts has not been answered by the previous discussions realated to it, then by all means you go ahead and post the question. You can left off where the previous myloter left some idea. Or you could elaborate the question deeper to allow more discussions to flow. That way your doubts will be remove, and the dicussion will continue till there is no clear solution solution reached. Just always remember to never posts just for the sake of posting.

yes you are right too Ricko82,i should better clear my doubts by changing the way of asking it i suppose and without worrying for repeated tags..but sometimes when it is not an emergency..i don't do that and now i think it is better to start off your own discussion only after searching for the tags as i can post my discussions without worrying..i never post just for the skae of posting as i have a very tight schedule so i am always having one or there doubt about my schedule or anything related to me and i have to clear that in short time as i am a bit impatient in keeping my doubts..so i post them here and some times some good experiences i want to share i post them here too..thank you for responding Ricko82:-)

that is the reason why i don't post much by starting discussions of my own but rather post by responding to others..so many topics are very similar to what you want to post..so far all i have to post in here are about life..my life..i seldom post something outside my life because i think there is no similar than my experience..

just like me when i first jion in mylot ,i do not think it's bad if we start our discussions with caring for existing ones, such is very good because of these are that classification ,master of such can see different discussion in different classification, this is so-called each has his likes and dislike such forum will be especially methodical, seems also comfortable!!

yup...well said fikiabc...if we start searching for our own ideas it looks ridiculous also..i mean thats the production of your own mind..why to search..but yes you have to save your position also...so it needs to be careful on mylot too:-)

Hi, medstudents4, welcome!
If I am considering a potentially popular topic, like abortion, or a big pro sports championship, or a hot new movie, I will search on the terms I am likely to use to tag it. It is very likely someone else has already started a discussion, and this is the most common way for innocently duplicated discussions to get deleted. As sunshinecup said, who wants to lose points?
If you are posting the original thoughts out of your head, you're less likely to run into this problem. It can also be productive to comment on something you're read elsewhere, and post a link to the piece. News articles, fashion stories, human interest, all can provide many topics.
I think it would be cool if you wrote discussions about what you are studying. Maybe something like, "The 10th Cranial Nerve: how can one pathway affect so many body systems?" or something like that. If you have papers to write, maybe you could get some input from all the writers here about them. You can combine all the memorization you have to do with your myLot efforts, it'll be original and helpful, too!
Anyway, good luck with everything. I hope you enjoy your membership here as much as I have enjoyed mine!

hey thank you gardengrrl for your response..i post what i think and feel like..till posting this discussion and reading the responses i have never searched for the tags..which i now think is not a good thing..i mean now i always search for the tags as well as full text...and i get disappointed a few times..but i don't mind..its ok..i can think something else..the result is now i have started thinking more and sometimes when an new idea comes to my mind i write id down so as not to forget it..lol..it may seem funny or weird to you..but its in my nature..i think of discussing about my subject topics but nobody responds to them:-(..2 weeks ago when i first joined on here i asked about how to increase your sitting capacity for studying..and only on one person responded to it...next day i responded to a person about which medicines to take and he just ignored me and replied everybody else..even when they were not very aware of medicines but they have used some them....i felt so awkward and stupid..i never expect comments to my responses but i consider it very necessary for myself and always make it sure to comment upon evrybody who responds to my discussions..(this is my thinking..i don't expect others to do so:-P)so i thought may be nobody is interested in work or studies..(don't get me wrong)..and started discussing about general things as everybody else is doing here i suppose...yes i can discuss on many articles if its about studies..i have presented many papers in my medical school..but i think who will bother them..yes i am also enjoying my stay here..mylot is really good and if somebody responds to my medical discussions too then its all more useful to me..:-)
