If your job does'nt require any reading,do you take the trouble to read for yourself?I read everyday, newspapers,
magazines, books, and any piece of writing I can lay my hands on no matter how small it may be.Reading is excellent exercise for the mind.

I am still in school and I can honestly say that I read beyond what is on our syllabus. I read the newspapers everyday and I really see to it that allot time for it as I really read each section except for the sports news. I also read a variety of magazines and books and almost anything really. There's always something new to learn!

Reading is a virtue that everyone must have. There are a lot of benefits we get from reading. I do read a lot when I was in school, mostly textbooks and reference materials. But now that I was done with school, all I'm reading is mylot discussions and newspaper, occasionally. Please share some of the good issues you've come accross from your reading. We'll be glad to read them here, plus you'll never run out of things to posts too.

Everything you say about reading is true.I am glad that you have not abandoned reading after leaving school.Newspapers are a first class example of good reading as are magazines, the internet e.t.c.I notice
however that you have not included books.Get hold of some books, any sort, and you will notice how much more
pleasurable, entertaining and informing reading will be for you.!!!LOL!!!

I love to read as well, sometimes I will re-read a book I love, or try somthing that I would'nt normally pick up. I just finished 1984 by George Orwell and now I'm reading a childrens book that looked interesting. I agree with JUNGLE as long as your reading somthing you are exercising the mind.

When people ask what I like to read, my husband will jokingly tell them,
"She reads anything with words in it."
Which is pretty close to the truth, I am an absolute bookworm. I spend time in the morning reading email, blogs, forums, and news online, and will pick up a book or magazine during the day if I have a few moments to spare. I end every day by reading a chapter or two of a novel before I drift off to sleep.

I think that sometimes being self-taught is the best way to go! (We actually homeschool our kids.)
There's something about being in charge of your own education that helps keep a passion for learning alive that sometimes gets a bit squashed when you have someone telling you what you are "supposed" to be learning.

I read a lot. I often go to the library and take out stacks of books. It's just something I enjoy.

Reading is one of my hobbies and I find it very enlightening. I read a lot of current affairs in the newspapers and sites and I also love to be updated on the political front. I love reading about my work, too, that way I get updated upstairs and enhance my capabilities inthat respect. I find reading quite enchanting and very resourceful.

Yes, reading is intigrated part of life!
Now a days i read mostly spiritual writings/books, or healing based books plus poetry and philosophical books!
I have become selective because of time as well as choice also! One has to decide what to read and why?
Am I right?

You are absolutely correct about that.I myself am still at a stage where my interests are many and varied, but I know that a time will arrive when I too
will become selective and choose just one kind of writing.I think that your personal choice of subjects
are nothing short of excellent.Keep at it by all means.!!!LOL!!!

It is excellent to read newspapers.I am glad that you
have a favorite one.I suggest that you read a few of
the classics.Look out for authors like Charles Dickens,Robert Louis Stevenson,Rudyard Kipling and Emily Bronte,to name just a few.Ofcourse there are many fantastic modern writers to choose from too like Wilbur Smith,James Hadley Chase, and
Tom Wolfe, again to name just a few.But you go ahead
and do some hunting, the options are limitless.!!!LOL!!

I read every day. I'll read pretty much anything, magazines, books, newspapers, the back of the cereal box. I have always loved reading. I find it harder to find time to just sit and read since we've had kids. So now I read in spurts. Sometimes it's just one sentence at a time and other times I may get in a few pages. Right now I'm reading 6 or 7 books and I have a few that I've requested from the library. I think my mind would turn to mush if I stopped reading.

Thanks *blush*. I'm addicted to reading. There is no way that I could go for more than an hour or 2 without reading. I'm glad you started this topic it's nice to see that there are so many people who like to read.
