Have you ever wondered how people can call themselves christians and the in the next breath start causing trouble for people they are ment to love? Why dont people just say what they think and mean what they say? I know not all people are like this but we have so many so called christians in the church nowadays that just set out to destroy other people? How are you supposed to trust people and more inportently how dose it look to people who dont belive in christ? It makes people tie us all with the same brush and i think people should be aware of this! they will be know by thier fruit!

I am an Atheist and you know what? It is true, I tend to lump all Christians into one ball and I think to myself when a self proclaimed Christian screws someone over or does something ungodlike "that's not very Christian" I grew up under the false assumption that all Christians were loving and would welcome you into there lives with open arms and accept you as one of god's creatures but then reality set in and more and more Christians disappointed me. I know lots of Christians and only a few do I consider true Christians. The ones that will give you the shirt off there backs, they do charity work and attend church on a regular basis. Then there are the so called Christians who go to church twice a year and are quick to judge you and point fingers because you happen to be godless. I applaud true Christians for having a belief but I abhor Christians that are only Christians when it suits them.

I have some in-law relatives that are VERY sanctimonious born-again christians and are always shoving their religion in peoples faces. What I find ludicrous is that they thing nothing of treating members of their own family with utter contempt although those same people provided them with a great deal of emotional and financial support when they needed it.
As an atheist, I can only think that their wonderful church hasn't really taught them much by way of morals at all really!

While I have had similar experiences, I remind myself not to generalise and define a group of people or a religion/belief based on the behaviour of a handful.
I think it is not fair to define a religion that way!

Oh yeah, that is why I have left Christianity. I know that I cannot always practice what they preach, so I decided to not be a Catholic anymore (for the record, Catholics are Christians, so Christians quite saying that they are not). Anyway, I just cannot be a Christian when I know that I cannot follow what they say to do.

I am a Christian and I cannot understand why some people gossip behind others's behind their backs. Every now and again, we get a sermon on this particular subject and about how our walk is viewed by others. We have to walk differently and make a stand even though it might mean persecution. And when someone berates someone in the church, and someone else hears about it, that last person should tell that person what she does is wrong, and if she does not do anything, should ask the elders to speak to her about her behavior.

It sounds to me you are talking about so called Christians, like you said. It would be sad for you to think of them as real Christians. I don't care for when people make assumptions by projecting a label on Christians, when we aren't even talking about Christians in the first place. It's called wannabes. Everyone is going to make mistakes, but if a person exhibits the qualities you name, then they are more than likely not Christians. You said they will be known by their fruit. And they will. If a person isn't living by the Bible, they are doing a great disservice by saying they are Christians. Unless a person knows what their looking for (a real Christian) they won't know it when they see it. I hope that that it is also true for the fakers. I hope people know them when they see them.

I'm not Christian and not here to say the same as you said about some Christians. Just like to appreciate you for insight knowledge of some people who like to destroy anything in the name of religion. It is true for other religions too.

It is because Christians are not true to their religious calling. I think of all major religion in the world, it is Christianity that is just taking religion for granted. Maybe we are just Christian by name and nothing else.
How sad. Christians are supposed to be the light and salt of the earth but instead Christians become the cursed dark and poison of the earth.
How I wish we all realized this.

Hi Sophie:
I totally agree with you. It drives me absolutely batty when people act like that. Sunday christians give religion a bad name. The ones I know think that they can do what ever they want and treat people rotten and then think because they go to church on Sunday all is forgiven and they are starting over with a clean slate.

the thing is though yes jesus will always forgive you but to repent means to turn away from that sin, thats what true repentence is all about and sadly some christians dont understant this.
