Going back to the beginning...

I've been watching the Naruto marathon on Cartoon Network over the past couple of days, and it's strange watching the characters develop all over again. Once you already know some of what happens later, it makes the early episodes seem so different than they did the first time you saw them.
So... how many times have you watched the early episodes of Naruto? Have you gone back and watched from the beginning even after seeing later seasons? How did your views on the characters and situations change?

My husband and I have the first 14 DVDs and we have seen all those episodes several times. We totally watched the whole marathon too. It was great. Naruto never gets olds for us. My hubby got me addicted to it when it first came on Cartoon Network and now I am into reading the manga. It's something that we share with each other and we have our Saturday night Naruto night.:) My favorite character is still Kakashi and I am finding myself liking Lee more than I used too. I like the episodes when the Sanins fight and my husband likes the Naruto vs. Gaara fight.

I haven't watched all the episodes that there are, but my husband and I are farther than they've shown on Cartoon Network so far. Just tonight we watched a few episodes that we have fansubs of, because we're trying to get to the end.
I watched a LOT of the marathon, most of it I'd say. I really like the episodes with the fight between Orochimaru and the 3rd Hokage, though I cry. =P
I don't know which character I would choose if I had to have one favorite. I really like many of the characters in Naruto, they are all so well-developed. My husband and I are both really fond of Shikamaru though.

Yes, the Third is awesome in that fight. It's so amazing when you think about how old he really must be, I'm not sure they ever mentioned his age but considering he essentially retired and then took back up being Hokage, and the ages of the people he trained, he's pretty darn old! I love some of the things he says to Orochimaru during that fight, about the nature of the people of Konoha... the love he has for his village and his people is so evident.
I have a soft spot for Choji as well!

Naruto is definitely not my style, Lecanis! I guess your discussion is lacking the right people to respond to it! :D
I don't like animes in general, but for some strange reason I love Dragon Ball Z. Guess where the "dbz" ending of my id comes from? As I've seen all the episodes a few times, I think it's very funny when I watch the first episodes and find out that the characters were so "weak" and their opponents so silly. Everyone gets stronger and stronger, and in the last episodes, even the most ordinary character has the powers that were "impossible to reach" in the beginning.

*laughs* Yeah, I know, so far I haven't gotten much in the way of Naruto fans. =P
Oh, so that's where that comes from! I was wondering about your username before actually, and never got around to asking.
I liked Dragon Ball Z at first when I started watching it, but I lost interest quickly. I think it's partially because it is one of those animes that everyone knows, and I got tired of hearing so much about it. There are people I know who will say "I'm a HUGE anime fan!" and then only talk about DBZ, and I'm going "What else have you seen?" just because I'm trying to find a way to relate to them. lol
You know, that is a good point though, when you put it that way. Looking back from the later episodes of DBZ to the earlier ones, the characters would seem very weak comparatively! It's the same with Naruto actually, the characters develop so much that going back they seem so weak and less mature.

Actually I've been rather enjoying rewatching this one, but it's one of my favorites. I suppose there are shows that get played until people are tired of them, and I'm sure there were people who are fans of other cartoons that were upset their shows didn't play this weekend. =p

I think it's really that good! It's so exciting that since I'm waiting til my husband and I are both together to watch the episodes, I'm practically going crazy between one day and the next to watch more! =p
What's so interesting about it to me is that there are a lot of different characters that are well developed. There are so many different personalities, fighting styles, ideas of how to do things... I think just about anyone could find someone to like in this show. It is kind of an action show, but there's also a lot of laughs and some serious drama... it's just hard to describe! Watch some! =p

I've never seen any Samurai Champloo, but I have seen some InuYasha. It's okay, but I didn't really get caught up in it like I did in Naruto. I started watching Naruto years ago before it came out in the United States via fansubs I downloaded online, so I guess it was really exciting to me when it finally came out here. What I really like about Naruto is how many characters there are that they actually develop. Even the side characters show obvious development over the course of the series, and that really interests me. Of course I must say I also like it because Naruto is very determined and headstrong and perhaps a bit stupidly persistant... and those are things I can identify with. =P

My family watches Naruto regularly. =) we even have discussions during weekends about the new characters and updating everybody on what's going on (the manga series).
A lot has change but my favorite is still Shikamaru and Kakashi. I also like Gai and Rock Lee. i think Lee has definitely improved. My husband saved some DVD copies of the entire episodes and we have watched them 3 to 5 times already (there's a lot of them, i sometimes get confused). =)
ryt now i'm excited with the new shippuuden series and i'm really looking forward to more discussion about the akatsuki and some new characters.
