Unfortunately, today, I have no air conditioning so I have had to resort to a fan? I sure do miss the central air!

Well Thank god for the past week and through out this week it will be in its high 60s unlike a few weeks ago when it was in its high 90s which was torture. But what I do to deal with the heat is I stay inside as much as possibly I always have a fan blowing in my room which makes it cooler. When im at work I drink a lot of licquids like when I have to go outside and I usally cut down my workload.

We were experiencing high-90s temperatures through my two-day misfortune. A box fan in the window was the only relief my family had to suffer through the heat. But we made it. Thanks for the response.

I knew you had to be from the South or Texas because you called it central air which is what I grew up calling it. Now I live in New Mexico where they use swamp coolers a lot and what I call central air is called refrigerated air. I switched from a swamp cooler to central air several years ago because it cools better, is cleaner and works even when there is high humidity which does happen here around this time of year on occasion. I hope you get your central air back soon.

My cousin married a Texan and I nearly fell over with laughter when he talked of swamp coolers! They are real?! lol I went for two days through the heat with minimal sleep and numerous cold showers. But all's well again! Yes, I am from the south...NC. Thank you for your respnse.

I have central air. I don't think I could deal with the heat with out it. I couldn't sleep at night with out the air.

Sleeping for those two nights without AC totally didn't happen for me, my hubby or our 15 year old daughter. We all took "shifts" with the big fan in the window. For the first time in many years, I actually could not sleep! I absolutely cannot sleep while sweating...it drives me insane. :-) Thanks for the response!

go out side and get your hose put a spray nozzle on it and turn it open to just a mist then stand under it untill you are cool.. it can keep you cool for quite a while good luck

Well that was the best suggestion I received! I wound up going two days with no AC. What I actually did was sweat through it all. There was just no relief at all. Thanks for the response.
