I was just thinking about hunting and how it is just a sport among many people.
I want to know if you think hunting as a SPORT is right?
I am totally fine with hunting as a main source of food, but I do not agree with hunting for entertainment and trophies....

Hunting as a sport, is something I do not agree with. I think if you hunt you should eat what you kill. I have gone hunting before with my ex-husband and I did enjoy it, but I also have a high respect for the animals as well. They gave their life so we could eat. We eat everything we hunt, or we just don't hunt at all.

Thank you mamasan =]
I agree with you on this... eat what you kill..
It reminds me of the game Oregon Trail. Sometimes I would kill more than I could carry... And if I tried to hunt again the whole place would be bare and I couldnt get much if I needed it, so I always just killed what I needed, and I feel I would do the same in real life if I had to =]

Sport hunting is a travesty, as far as I'm concerned. The only reason for hunting is for food, period. As for killing in self-defense, yes, that too. I love love love all animals, and I think that we humans have a responsibility to do what we can to try to save the species that are left on the planet, if we can, if it's not too late; but if I were in a situation where, for some reason, I was being attacked by an animal, I would try to survive, even if it meant killing to do so.
Sport hunting, however, should be punished as if it were murder, period.

I don't think it's right as a sport either. However, I think that what makes me madder is the current animal abuse we have going on. I remember seeing pictures not too long ago from Alaska and hunters (I guess they were hunters) were beating sea dogs to a bloddy pulp. The pictures made me cry. Also, just the other day I seen pictures of what the pit bull dogs looked like after a fight. That makes me sick.
When I think of killing animals for food I think of cows and chicken or turkey. To me that is okay, it sucks that we live off of them and i wish there was another way, but since I'm not a vegetarian I guess I don't really have a choice with that and you have to eat to live.
I've never really thought of hunting as a sport, only because every time I knew someone that went hunting it was for food, and they would hunt for dear.
