One of my friends was wondering how much to give her daughter as a weekly allowance, and since I don't have a kid I thought id ask all the mommies and daddys out there =] Do you pay your child an allowance? If so, how much, and what do they have to do to earn it?? Thank you for sharing your opinions with me, they are much appreciated, and alway rated ;)

That is a pretty neat system! I might try to do something like that with my son when he is older. Thanks for sharing!

I have a 5 year old & she cleans her room, picks up toys. She was getting $1.00 a week for that. Now we've told her that is her responsibility to keep her room clean anyhow so she does other chores around the house. She helps me with the dishes (the ones that she can)& earns 25 cents a day that she helps.

My daughter is eight years old and I do not give her a weekly allowance as yet . I will give her money to get her lunch from school once a week when she has to go early for her gym class. Maybe next year ,when she is better at managing money I'll consider giving her allowance.

Right now my son is too young to get allowance, but my little sister and nephew both get allowances. I'm not sure how much my sister gets, or what she does to get it. My nephew gets about $5.00 a week if he does his chores and helps clean up around the house. I know he has to make his bed daily, keep his room clean, keep his dirty clothes in the hamper and maybe a few other small things. He's a good helper though and he really earns his allowance. I will probably have something similiar with my son when he is big enough and old enough.
