I am very interested in getting other opinions and viewpoints on this. I myself am pagan, and am constantly asked if that makes me a Satanist. I then have to explain that I do not believe in Satan. Satan is part of the Christian belief system. So my question is this, if Satan is a Christian beleif, doesn't that make people who claim to be Satanists part of the Christian belief system and therefore Christians?

Satanism is a different religion to Christianity. It has almost entirely different beliefs, difference sources and a different history. Its usage of words is different to that of Christianity. Satanism is not the worship of the Christian Satan, because then Satanism would be part of Christianity. In order to believe in the Christian Satan, you have to be a Christian. Satanists are not Christians, their beliefs are different. The "Satan" of Satanism is different to the Satan of Christianity. Just like when the Christians say "prophet", they do not mean the Muhammad or Zarathustra, they mean a Christian prophet because the others are not from their own religion. When Satanists say "Satan" they do not mean the Christian Devil. Satanists do not believe that Satan fell from heaven, because that is a Christian belief. There is no heaven to fall from, no God to do battle with, no hell to fall to. These are all ideas made up and used by Christians, and are not shared by Satanism.

A Christian is someone that follows Jesus. So no they could not be called Christians.

I do not agree with your definition of a Christian. Therefore I do not agree with your conclusion.

Actually, I have had discussions with people in the past who call themselves Satanists and describe it as somewhat of a war against God. In that type of situation, they admit to a belief in the Christian God, the Christian version of Satan, and Jesus. A christian is not just someone that follows Jesus, but someone who believes in Jesus, hence my original inquiry.

HA HA wouldn't they be pissed, but I agree with you thatit must mean they're of the Christian belief system, lol. I'm confused as far as my religion is concerned at the moment, Christians are bordering on fanatical where you and I are here in the "Bible Belt".

There is more to Christianity than just believing in parts of the religion or the vocavulary associated with it. Christians believe that Christ is the messiah that was sacrificed to cleanse their sins. Do your Satanists believe that too? If so, they are not Satanic Christians, but liars or hypocrites.

Could you please clarify your opinions?
The point I was attempting to make is that "Satan" is a Christian belief, and there for not to be applied to non Christian beliefs. Yet I, who follow a non Christian path, am reguarly accused of being Satanic, which I find laughable since I do not believe in "Satan".

I can see your logic, but it's not quite right to say that Satanists are Christians. They simply subscribe to the same devil/god battle of good and evil as do Christians and all the other scripture based faiths.
Paganism is an organic religion. That'll do for me. :)
