I just made a beaded bracelet last week. there was a subsidised class and i had so much fun doing it! I wanted to finish it within the day, cos it was so addictive, but the beads were really tiny (think i must have used at least 500 tiny beads for that bracelet alone) but i had stuff to do that night and had to only complete it the next day! I'm really pleased with that finished project!
It's called a caterpillar bracelet. I don't have a photo of it yet, but if I manage to get my hands on the one my friend took I'll try to post it up.
there were about 20 gals and one guy in the class. think the guy must have been learning to make a present for his girlfriend. we tried not to tease him too much, but it was quite fun. we used toho glass beads and some swarovski crystals. it's really hard to do cos the beads were so small and the needle too - had difficulty threading it even though I'm far from the oldest in the class!
any of you have made a beaded bracelet or enjoy crafts with beads? I think I'd love to make some earrings next. much less work !

I had a friend who was quite talented at beaded jewelry. I did buy quite a few pieces from her. It is very time consuming and I wouldnt have the patience to be able to do that kind of intricate work, so I have much respect for those of you with the talent and ability to do it!

back when I was still a little boy, I used to while my holidays away doing crafts.
Used to play with those tiny beads to make a whole host of stuff. From brooches to bracelets to pendants to necklaces to decorative ornament pieces.
The things you can do with them are endless!
I have yet to work with swarovski crystals though. The cost of the crystals were very expensive to a school boy though.
I may take up the hobby again soon... we'll see ;)

Chinatown? where in chinatown can you find the bead shop?
I know people's park have.
The largest collection of beads can be found in Arab street.
You got any other cheaper lobangs?
I am still looking for something that is cheap to practice with before moving onto the real blinks. ;)

i think the cost is quite alright. at heeren basement, there's a bead shop - $2.95 for 20 crystals. not bad right? chinatown will be even cheaper. :)

I have been into many crafts but not beadinf as I don't think my eyesight would be good enough, but I did get into charm jewellery making where you glue charms to a base and findings and I know that was very addictive...

haha i wish i could, but really it's a lot easier when you are in a class and can get live demonstrations. here's a look at some of the bracelets we made! it's not complete - the thicker beaded stuff at the top of the bracelet in the picture is what the whole bracelet should be covered with.

I do alot of beeding, i make nursing neacklaces for nursing mothers. I do bracelets, earrings and regular neacklaces as well. Its one of those zen things for me. I can sink into a world of colorful designs and tune out my kids for an hour ( husband watching them of course) and just spend some time for myself.
Earrings can be easier.. depending on what kinds of beads you are using and what designs you are looking at making. I like to use seed beeds myself and do some intracate designs. Like bead weaving. Its a pain in the bum but beautiful in the end.

HellO!
Me and my friend did venture into making beads as a hobby before, years ago. We used some jade stones and some swarovski crystals as well. We did it just for fun to give as a gift, we did sell some of them but we stopped for the reason that she left and was assigned to a diff city. I still have the materials we used but haven't made any for quite a long time now. It was great fun and yeah I miss doing it. Thanks for sharing. Take care.
ciao! :D
