Hard disk changing from older motherboard to newer one

I am havin an idea of buying asus m2n-mx motherboard and amd athlon64 x2 processor...i am now using p4 with intel motherboard.i am using a Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 ST3250823A.i want to know whether i will be able to use the same harddisk in the new asus motherboard.....thnkx in advance

This would not be a problem. Simply transfer the drive to the new computer and you should be able to boot from it straight away.
Since you are changing the motherboard then you may need to install a few drivers from the supplied CD, but the hard drive should operate regardless of that.

i think you didnt get it clear....in my intel motherboard the hard disk was connected using the bus separately for optical drives and for hard disk...but in the upcoming motherboards which support DDR2 ram,the hard disk is separately connected using a red cable...tat's why i am asking whether i'l be able to use the same hard disk?

is your Seagate HDD a SATA or IDE? if IDE you will not have a problem moving your old seagate HDD to your new motherboard. you will be able to use and boot with your old hdd since IDE HDD are compatible to most of the motherboards available. but if your HDD is a SATA type problems may occur like your PC will "blue screen" before the window loads because of raid driver compatibility issue.
