What is the difference between ASP and ASP.net?

Hello, I know how to ASP and made several websites using it .. but never worked with ASP.net .. what's the difference between them? unfortunately I never had a chance to work with it so i can know the difference .. Can anyone tell me ?
Plus I wanna know what's the difference between Visual Basic and VB.net ..

I think what i know about ASP and asp.net is ASP.net is a very simple language than ASP, in ASP.net we need not to write much code as in ASP.
