Hi! I have 7 cats! lol Kitty city isn't it? lol I use Arm and Hammer Multi Cat Clumping Litter. It's the best I've ever found. It makes the cat waste hard which is very easy to scoop out. Also there is deodorizer that you can put in the box to help keep the odor down. It's in a tall cardboard box type of container and it's the same color as the box of the litter too so it shouldn't be hard to find. If you can't find the same brand deodorizer then any one of them will do. However if you decide to try this brand out, remember to get the "multi cat" which has a pinkish/purpleish color stripe on the box whereas the other one has the green stripe.
Also use plastic bags to put the waste in and then tie it tight and throw in the trash. Good luck to you!

I would train them to use the toilet. Its really not that hard to do. You get a litter pan that fits in the toilet. Once thay have learned to use that then you can take the box away and they will go in the toilet. Or you can try Multi cat formula clumping. It works well. You should only need 2 litter boxes. Put them next to each other somewhere away from the main part of your house. Febreze pet odor works well. Oh try baking soda in the bottom of the box{under the litter} to trap some of the smell.

Need to teach them to flush. If I ever had another cat I would toilet train him. It cuts back on that nasty urine smell, and Litter smell.

Training your cat to use the toilet is a great idea. We have a 9 year old cat that we saved from the pound. We taught him to use the toilet, the only thing is he can't flush LOL. It is great though as you don't have to worry about cleaning out the kitty litter, you just have to remember to flush the toilet for them.

We have 7 cats and a total of 3 litter boxes. 2 downstairs in our laundry room, 1 up near the top of the stairs. One trick my mom has about helping with the smell is mixing a little bit of backing soda in with the little.
And it is important that you clean the litter boxes at least twice a day. Once in the morning when you wake up and once just before you go to bed.

I used to have 6 cats. I had 4 litter boxes and cleaned them twice a day it was alot of work. once a day I would empty them and clean them with bleach water dry them and fill them back up, the other time I just changed the litter. now that I only have 2 cats I use the scoopable cat litter. that dosent work well with more than 2 cats though. good luck.

I have two cats and live in a small apartment so if the box smells bad the whole place does!! I do what a previous poster said and put about a cup of baking soda in the cat litter and mix it well. I cannot comment on different brands of cat litter because I use a wheat based cat litter called Swheat Scoop. It is comparable to the previous clay litter I used to use, however the wheat litter seems to last longer before it goes rank and I have to change it. When you wash the litter box make sure you wipe it down with vinegar, this is important because cats urine contains ammonia and the vinegar kills this smell. Just make sure you rinse out the vinegar well otherwise the cats will not use the box because they hate the smell of vinegar. As far as the box itself goes, you can get lids for the boxes to help contain the smell, or you can invest in an automatic litter box. I have a Simply Clean litter box and it greatly cut down on the maintainence required to keep the box clean. Hope all this babble helps!!

thank u but that is not a option its people who dont spay and neuter the cats thats why the shelters are full of innocent furry faces who were brought into this world thru no act of their own irresponsible people who dump them off on shelters and expect them to find homes for them all are u 1 of them????

i would up the number of cat boxes, try some covered litter boxes, and only scrub the boxes once a week. the smell of the bleech sends them off and if you do that too much, they just won't use them.
and i keep incense around just for when someone comes over in case there's a bit of a smell. i have a houseful of cats and about 10 boxes and i scoop em all once a day and scrub 'em out with pine cleaner once a week. i use scoopable litter ... cat's pride... and it seems to do the trick. good luck.
