what are the signs of a mild stroke?

I have high blood pressure and I'm already in my late 30's. I'm a bit concerned about the signs of a mild stroke because in the history of our family, the youngest to have a mild stroke was in their 30's. I've been having migraines and sometimes I feel a bit dizzy lately. Do you think those could already be considered mild stroke? how would I know if I'm already having a mild stroke...what are the signs?

I can't answer you regarding symptoms of a Mild Stroke. But I have experienced a Mild Heart Attack (Myocardial Infarction). It started in the morning as I reported for work at around 8 a.m. I was experiencing chest pains. It's as if someone is pinching your heart. I read somewhere that if you cough hard it might help, so I did. I guess it worked because the pain went away. But it came back about 3 times and I just did the coughing thing. During my lunch break I felt the pain again, but this time it was greater. It started from the center of my chest, radiating to my arms and I could feel the pain in my back too. It's like an elephant stepping on my chest. I had a hard time breathing. I tried to do the coughing thing, but it didn't work this time. I had a strong suspicion that it's already a Heart Attack, as i was having cold sweat (something that I've never experienced in my whole life). I had to slouch so that the pain would be bearable, but had a hard time breathing. I had to stand upright to be able to breathe easily, but had to bear the pain. I was still able to call a cab to bring me to the Hospital.

wow...what happened to you was really terrible...i don't know if i'd be able to survive that if it happened to me. i think having a stroke would also have some complications that would involve the heart. it's good you recovered. take extra care and good luck to our health. ('.')

Stroke involves sudden paralysis or weakness of half of your body. So you will notice that you are suddenly unable to move your right or left arm and leg. It can also involve the facial muscles. It might affect your swallowing or speaking ability. And yes, stroke can manifest as a severe headache. You have to make sure that you maintain your blood pressure at normal levels. How? Avoid stress. Avoid salty foods. Exercise regularly. If that doesn't work you will need medication. Persistently elevated blood pressure can trigger a stroke or heart attack. It can also be the cause of your headaches/dizziness.

my bf's father has just been released from the hospital from stroke (high blood). through that experience i have learned that the first signs are the following: - trouble speaking (his father was talking to the phone at that time when their helper noticed that he is talking in a weird way, his father wasn't aware of that though until he was told about it) - dizziness, nausea (his father at an early stage was able to drive the car to the hospital lucky that it isn't that far from their place) - trouble moving in some parts of their body (in his father's case, it is his right side, he can't right properly, walk properly and can't hold a spoon. his right side is paralyzed)

As most peoplewith high blood pressure don't have any symptoms, they are diagnosed when they have their blood pressure taken as part of a medical examination. That's one good reason to have a regular chech-up with your doctor, especially if you are over 50years old. Your doctor may request that you come backfor repeat measurements over a number of weeks before suggesting that you have treatment. This is so he or she can check that the high reading is an ongoing problem and not a one-off.You may also need some test to see if high blood pressure is having an effect on the rest of your body. These may include : . an analysis of your urine ( protein in your urine maybe the first sign of a kidney problem ) . a blood test to check your cholesterol and blood sugar levels as well as the condition of your kidneys . an ECG (electrocardiogram),which records the electrical changes happening in your heart

The possibility of a stroke is also haunting me as I am also suffering from high blood pressure and it is also within our family. Currently I am on medicine for the high blood pressure. I wrote an article on strokes and if you are interested you can go to www.hendrikd.blogspot.com for the article.

A sign of having a mild stroke varies. It could range from a migraine to blurry vision and even just numb or sore all over the body. Migraines are not that uncommon, i suffer them often myself. If you get blurry vision id go and see the doctor straight away, you're about to have a stroke.

Hi, I have had two strokes when I was 42yrs old, not from high blood pressure but genetic( family genes). My first one was only mild and had only headaches to speak of as symptoms. Woke up and went to work and when my boss came to say good morning she looked at me and said that I had a bellspausy (droop to one side of my face)and that my speach was slightly slurred. These wre so slight that I did not notice them in the mirror at home.Alas when I went to the docter her said it was a virus and did not diagnose it as a stroke until 6mths later I had what I call my large stroke were I lost all use of my left hand , lucily that was all and with a lot of determination and work I now have the use of my left hand again. I tell you this just to show you how quickly a stroke can come on so if you think for any reason you may have some symptoms go to your docter and get properly checked out i.e blood tests, blood pressure and if neccessary an MRI.

I am already on my early fortys and am,too is hypertensive. Now, you asked about symptoms of a mild stroke, ok- The clinical feature of a mild stroke may include an extremely diverse group of effects or symptoms. These include changes in sensation, changes to pattern of movement, weakness or paralysis, emotional disturbances and changes to speech. For sensation, your sense of touch become numb or your skin refuse to feel anything, abnormal pattern of movements, speech and language disorder usually occurs when you are having a mild stroke. So be vigilant always. And you must always your medicine ready at hand. Thanks and i hope i was able to answer some of your queries.

stroke, high blood pressure runs in a family. especially if you have close relative who has stroke. the best way, take a complete medical check up, which includes blood work, ekg, x-ray, to rule out. migraine and dizziness is not a key symptoms for mild stroke. check with the doctor.

Many times migraine is mistaken as stroke, because the pain in head is same. But the stroke goes away within few hours, but migraine starts slowly and spreads as the time increases. You can differentiate migraine from stroke is, that stroke comes in sudden time and acts very faster making only vision blurred. But in migraine the pain spreads slowly, with blurred vision followed by zigzag lines and flashing lights. Most probably migraine starts at early age even in childrens whereas the stroke is found majorly in older peoples. http://www.thebrainhealth.com/warning-signs-of-a-stroke.html
