What river is the nearest to you?

I live about four miles from the Kaw River which is the main river in Kansas. About 8 miles from here it empties into the Missouri River at Kansas City.

I live about a mile away from the river Tyne in North East England. My office is even closer, about 10 feet away in-fact! It flows from the Pennines in Northumberland to the North Sea. It's acclaimed as the best salmon river in the UK (which isn't saying much!)

I'd say the Sooke Lake River is the closest to where I live, about 10 miles away, not much of a river. As for major river I'd say the Fraser river on the mainland west coast of Canada is the closest.

The Lake nearest us has some very narrow spots. - In this photo a lonely sail boat is gliding by.
I live near the Colorado River which travels through the Grand Canyon and then down through Lake Mead and keeps going south until it crosses the border into Mexico. I like that "my" river crosses geographical boundaries. The Colorado River has some beautiful lakes. Below is a photo I took of the one near us.
