Inheritance Distributions

Does anyone know how long it takes for inheritance distributions to be sent out? I'm on a list, along with my mother and siblings for an inheritance distribution. My mother was told what HER part was, but I have no idea how much mine is. Once the attorney states that the distributions are being prepared, how long does it actually take for the checks to arrive? A week, two weeks, 30 days? The attorney is within the same state, less than two hours from where I live. The deceased is a second cousin to me, and he never married, and has no kids. There was also no will made. Will all distributions be the same amount or does the next generation get a smaller amount. I'd ask the attorney myself, but my mother is keeping the details of this to herself, and I only received one letter years ago about this and have misplaced it. Any ideas?
