Monk vs Poirot

have any of you watched this series called Poirot. Its based on agatha christie's detective in her novels. Ive just been watching it recently, and have enjoyed it because of Poirot being similar to Monk. He has uncanny observation skills, he comes up with the solution without anyone else having a clue what it is. He also has some obsessive compulsive behaviors though not as bad as monk.
Any thoughts or comment?

i only once watched a film about Poirot but i've collected Agatha christie's novel since i was in junior high.well,maybe the way they solve the mysteries a bit same but i don't think so w/ the behaviours.at least poirot has best friend (capt. hasting?i forgot the name,sorry) and he still want to touch other people,not afraid w/ anything as far as i can remember :) but they both have an extraordinary observation skill.

I have read agatha's books as well when I was younger, but poirot in this television series does things like go back to a barber because one side of his sideburns is 1cm shorter than the other side. But definitely he isnt obsessive compulsive like Monk is.

hi candy!i guess i have to watch more often about poirot,hehe.the problem is here in indonesia poirot isn't too popular.i have tv cable too but only once i found they run one film about poirot.may i know the tittle of the series about poirot?i wanna try to find from internet.thanks and have a nice day!

There are similarities and i indeed noticed,both of them are tidy clean neat freaks,with some obssesive compulsive disorder and phobias.They both have to have everything ordered and clean and are both brilliant and can notice smallest details that nobody but real brilliant detective can notice,they are even same brilliant in my mind,but Monks obssesive compulsive disorder and his phobias are defenately greater than Poirots!!!Tough both in my mind would lose to their exact oposite and my all time most favourite detective Columbo,i like them both!!!!

Many of the characters are similar to each other as well. The cases have the same kind of twists to them, and they end there mysteries in the same style. This makes me think that Monk might have been based off Poirot, but monk is a more exaggerated and modern version.
Read the books watch the movies.

I did not see much similarities between Monk and Poirot. Well, both of them are sure very smart. Though, Monk seems to be a very vulnerable man compared to Poirot who has a strong personality.

Sounds good but it can't be as good as Monk coz that is the besttv show in the world!!!
