Boardgames. Do you still play them?

What's your favourite boardgame? Is it an old classic like the original monopoly or something new. Do you play boardgames with your friends/family/children, or is it no longer something that you participate in? My favourites would have to be Monopoly, Downfall, Where In The World & Trivial Pursuit. I especially enjoy educational games, and I think it's important that they are still played and not replaced with online games and gaming consoles.

I have always loved monopoly! There's a relatively new one out where the bank is an actual electronic devide thing and you all have cards like credit cards that you stick in. Someone is still the banker, but there's no actual monopoly money to deal with, so less arguments. hehe. I have also seen there's an australian edition of monopoly that i really want to get. I'll get it one day haha. Another of my favourites is an old game called "game of life". I think they may have made this game again, not sure. I'll have to have a look for it. I used to play it when i was a kid and had so much fun! I used to play it by myself because everyone else was bored of playing it. haha.

Monopoly with no monopoly money and related arguments? OMG! That would completely change the dynamics of the game! lol. I wouldn't mind getting the Aussie one either, although nothing can replace the original =] And here I was thinking I was the only one who played board games alone when no-one would join me. lol.

I have to say I still love board games. I use to play connect four a lot as a kid and Operation, oh and Pictionary. People never wanted to be my partner in pictionary though cos even I cant tell what I draw!!! I use to play a lot of card games too, not sure if they real games or not but I played them at school, Cheat, and Speed they were called. The games I like playing now or more so still play are Monopoly ( just recently got the Spongebob version!!lol) Crib, and the old favourite snakes and ladders. To be quite honest I'm up for any board game really. Always a lot of fun. I also remember playing wheel of fortune and Nightmare.

There's a Spongebob version of Monopoly?.. Wow, am I out of the loop or what =P Pictionary's a family favourite. And funnily enough, the worst drawer in my house, my mum, is the best player! Everyone rushes to be on her team =P I haven't heard of those school card games, but I'm sure they're somewhat similar to the ones my sister myself and our mixed bag of friends made up... such as scum; the best and greatest game in the world =P And bullsh*t, which I recommend for any family fun day =P I have giant snakes and ladders at home, and at any chance, my mum would always ask to play =P

It's not *that* big... maybe ... 2m by 2m? It's more of a pain than anything; moving the pieces around the mat - it's a bit of a reach =P Do you get crabby-patties??

We love to play boardgames. In fact we may play one tonight. I'm a monopoly, life, and payday person. Once in awhile we play othello or battleship.

Who will you be playing with tonight? It actually makes me want to play card games or battleship or something with my boyfriend just for fun. =D Thanks for the input, Surveygirl.

Oh! Board games. I don't ever have anyone to play with so I don't still play them unfortunately. However, my favorite game is Life. and I play life on my computer once in a while. I'd really like to get some of those DVD games that I could play alone because it's fun to challenge myself but I don't have friends who'd be too interested in a game night that way and I don't have the husband/kids to play with either!

I actually know someone starting a game night and I was all excited, but it's card games. they just aren't as fun as board games!

You're right, card games just aren't the same... Although if there's money involved =P I've always liked the odd game of blackjack... I suggest you rock up with a box of board games and force them to play =P

=( My heart goes out to you! If I lost all my boardgame friends, I'd create (or join) a boardgaming society and make some new ones =P I hope that you find some awesome people to play with! =D

My favorite board game would have to be Monopoly. It is a different game everytime you play, you never know what you will get and it lasts a long time if you want to make a night of it.

And they're a good argument starter, because every household has altered the rules slightly over the years - my friends and I get together to play, and we're still arguing over rolling doubles at 3am =P

Yeah I still play board games everyonce in awhile if I can find someone to play with which is rare. My two favorite board games are monopoly and chess. I love chess because it takes a lot of strategy to play that game unlike a lot of other board games and it is also very fun. I also love monopoly havnt played the actual board game in years but I play it on my cell phone every day lol.
