X factor

Dear lord, will the torture never end? It must run about 3 or 4 series a year now. It's on for about 3 months at a time, and the media generally reports on it every day. I can't stand watching X-factor. I didn't mind the first or even second series (pop idol etc) even though they weren't 'my thing' but surely it's getting beyond a joke now. Each series becomes even more desperate than the last, I long to watch some interesting and 'new' television on saturday nights rather than YET ANOTHER Saturday night singing contest. Do you agree with me or are you a fan?

I don't mind paying a little bit for the BBC as they make some programmes that would never be made on a commercial basis. A lot of the programmes like Child of our time, Coast, David Attenborough Wildlife Series etc are very expensive to make and wouldn't pay for themselves quickly enough to be considered profitable. We do pay far too much though, the Beeb spaff money away on some ridiculous projects and make money by selling their old programmes to commercial channels on freeview and satellite as well as to foreign networks.

Hi gorgeous! Hope you're keeping well? I hate to be pedantic, but both X-factor and big brother are on commercial channels (ITV & 4) so they have nothing to do with our licence fees. Actually that makes me even more dumbfounded! Because they're on commercial channels, that means that the viewing figures must still be big, otherwise they wouldn't keep putting them on. I just can't figure out whether people watch because there isn't a decent alternative, or because they actually like it?!?! I'm even more puzzled about who on earth is happy to spend over a quid on voting for that trash! Take care babes. x

A man after my own heart! I could put up with the occasional show, but we've been inundated here for several years now.

Thanks to the gods, my country couldn't afford it! Idols and Big Brother Africa are showing here now, and I will be crucified by the nation, but I don't watch either.

Lucky lucky you!! I actually work for (a small part of) the TV channel that broadcasts it here but I make no secret that I think it's sh!t lol I can't stand big brother now either. I actually really enjoyed the first series as I thought it was in interesting social experiment, but now it's just full of wannabe's and it has run past it's use-by date (as has X-factor/idol)
