Now that Big Sam has taken over and the team has had an encouraging first three matches in the EPL, can the fans dream of making it to Europe next year? Now, that the leaky back four has been plugged, I certainly think that the toon side is headed for a top 6 finish this year.
What's your opinions?Cheers!

I don't think so. Big sam performance always within the range of middle and bottom table in the premier league that is based on his past records with other football clubs in the EPL.
The great top five usually dominated by richer and well managed club such as Manchester united, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, and the new one Manchester City.
Now the six position is very competitive place where average team like Everton, Portsmouth, Blackburns, and Aston villa will be around to compete.
Newcastle will have absolutely little hope to be there in the area of 6

You have not followed Big Sam if you say that he has been in the range of middle to Bottom table. He took Bolton to top 8 finish in 3 of the last five campaign. This is the same team that is now languishing in relegation zone this year. Given the current situation of Newcastle, it still does not seem that Big Sam's magic is weaving, but I still think a top 8 finish is within their grasp.

All this while I believe the players that Newcastle United have at their disposal have enough qualities to ensure at least a top 6 finish and qualify for Europe, all they need is a good manager to steer the team. Players such as Obafemi Martins, Mark Viduka, Nobby Solano, Alan Smith, Nicky Butt, James Milner and Emre are all top qualities. They even have a good goalkeeper in Shay Given. And that does not even taken into account of injured stars such as Michael Owen and Damien Duff. And I believe Sam Allardyce can surely guide the team to success. What they lack is top quality defenders, which is always the problem at Newcastle. Players that being brought in so far such as Cacapa and Habib Baye are not good enough. If Big Sam could bring in reinforcement during january transfer window and both Owen and Duff returns, I don't see why they couldn't make it to Europe.

welll ..its gonna be tough for newcastle to make it to europe next year as they are right now 11th position and 8 points behind portsmouth who are at the last UEFA spot ..at the curretnt state it seems unlikely as the magpies has lost .. 2 and drawn 1 in there last 3 home matches . if they are to continue like this they wont be able to catch up .. injuries to micheal owen has hampered there progress.. with .. viduka and martin upfront . not creating much problem for the opposition teams . its going to be hell of an achievement if they make it . but then . evrything is poosible in football :) . gudluck to newcastle :)

Yes, they are still struggling a bit. But, I think the Arsenal game might be the turning point and they can turn around their season. Given Sam's qualities, I think he might be able to get the team fighting tooth and nail. And if Owen returns back the team gains some of it's bite as well!!
Cheers!
