Almost lost my mobile........

Recently i was on my way to home after visiting my friend. A guy in the bus looked very tense and was searching his shirt and trouser pockets for something. Then he shouted that he lost his mobile. Others in the bus asked him to search everywhere. But he was so tense and dint listen to anybody. He asked for mobile from the next person to call his number so that he can identify with its sound. The guy said mine has provision only for incoming calls. I gave my mobile out of pity. He tried ringing his number. He was standing in the steps of the bus. Something told me to go near him. As i stood up from my street, he got down and started running. After a small chace, he turned back and gave it back to me and said sorry. I still dont understand whether he is a theif or not. What do you think? Would you have given your mobile if i were you?
