This is really a tough question for me even before I got married. When I was pregnant, I told my husband beforehand that if ever this situation arises during my delivery of our baby, he has to choose our baby. The infant would be my sign of love for him, aside from my loving gestures towards him. Fortunately, I had a speedy delivery and recovery after that & we love our first child who's a lovely daughter. In fact, she's turning two next week.

My Dad was actually faced with this when my Stepmom had my Sister. She started bleeding and they couldn't stop it...the Dr. came out and asked my Dad which one did he want saved...my Dad told him to get his dumb a** back in there and he better have both when he came out. My Stepmom and Sister came through fine but it was definately a scary moment.

Like all choices dealing with unborn children, it ia all up to the pregnant woman. If the mother to be tells her family that she wants her child to live if there is a choice, then you have to respect her wishes. But if she says to terminate the pregnancy, then do it. But if you never talked about it, then I would choose the mother.Because she may be able to conceive another child, if she wants to.I would change my mind only when the mother won't survive but there is a chance that the baby will.

I agree with this comment and if she is unable to choose or decide due to her illness or coma then it should be the choice of the father or her parents if no father around or some other influenctial person she would trust to make the right decsion and would know her wishes.

I would say MOM because without mom their would be no baby. Already faced this thirteen months ago, very hard decision to make because you want the child to have a chance.
