I was returning from taking my dad to the heart Dr and seen a helicopter flying overhead right near my home. Getting home it was almost directly overhead. I turned on my police scanner listening to what was happening. I got the frequency with the State Trooper Chopper. Evidently they had someone cornered that had stolen a vehicle nearby. I live maybe 3/4 miles from the Mississippi River. Well after about a half hour the officer in the chopper stated he saw the suspect walking out of the river on the West banks. I live near the east banks. Now it's another cities turn to have the convict. Here's a shot of the chopper just about over my house. he made maybe 30 circles in an hours time since I've been home. Sometimes I don't feel so safe in this neighborhood then again other times I feel it's a lot safer than where I used to live 4 Yrs. ago.

I've heard that there's an entire channel in the USA devoted to filming and tracking helicopter car chases by police. Not sure if that's true, but if so it proves that there sure is an audience for this kinda thing.

Court TV has a slew of various "cop" shows of all sorts showing chases etc. It gets ridiculaous after awhile. Fun to watch but not for that many hours on end. HAHAHAHA!

I had responded to this, with a lot of talk about helicopters. Then my fingerwent haywire, & I accidently deleted the response. Sorry.
But I did view your photo, rate it & write a comment.

That must have been pretty exciting but scary at the same time knowing there was a criminal nearby. He probably has some kind of weapon on him as well so you definitely do not want to be too close to the action. Sometimes we get choppers that fly around the area but never hear anything about what they were doing or found.

this is nothing grandpa bob, if you lived in india you would see, suddenly a man running past you and a whole mob running behind to get back the ladys' hand purse that the guy ran with, you would see first floor windows all with grills and the same in the 7th floor too, why ? because the thief could try to reach the 7th floor through the vertical sewage pipe, people locking their bicycles with chains heavier than the bicycle itself and amazing things.
safe and peaceful living, prayers, apple.

I have lived in hig crime areas as well. But this was something to me. I can't believe you started off saying this is nothing to me. Anyhow I felt a bit threatened anyhow. Thanks for the response and stay safe.

Our neighborhood used to be great and safe (we have a police dispatch station within 5 minutes walk from the neighborhood and use to have a trooper living a few blocks away the trooper moved last year). When we rented out the house for 3 years and then came back all that had changed. It is not the same neighborhood anymore. There are only 3 original owners on our street now everyone else sold thier houses and moved on. Although it has gotten a little quieter since the people 3 doors down have moved (the cops were at their house a lot).

Oh, that is nothing, back in the late 90's I was driving home from work and saw multiple helicopters and police cars and news cars about 1 1/2 mile from my home and down the street from my son's elementary school.
I start listening to the radio and it seems they had found a serial killer. Now in his home, that he shared with his parents, they found I think it was 8 or 9 bodies. To make the story even better, there were doctor's offices across the street, where the staff had been complain about an unknown smell in the air (decomposing bodies).
I supposed I should add, that the guy also worked in the middle school of my school system and was generally well liked.

I feel that you are not safe no matter where you live. You can be hit by a stay bullet when at a movie. I hope they caught the person they were looking for.
We live in a safe neighborhood, but I keep my doors locked when I am not home and the front door locked when I am home alone.

I hope you are safe here and take care of you and your family as much as you can. It is hard to leave the place after staying for a long, if you feel this place is sfaer than the previous one, then its good. But you really must be coucious about the incidents heppening around there. have a good time
