I have been suffering on a monthly basis from migraine headaches for three years. I have tried all kinds of abortive and preventative medicines and nothing has really worked. My neurologist recently prescribed Topamax for me, and in the beginning I noticed that it was lessening the occurences of my migraines. But, unfortunately, three months in, I've started noticing the headaches coming back more frequently. I don't want to up my dosage because the side effects are really problematic.
Does anyone else have any experience with taking Topamax?

I have suffered headaches and migraines since 1987. I have tried it all and done it all.Nothing prevents then.I did take Topomax for a few months but it kept me awake.I could not sleep. It did nothing for my migraines. The Dr. wanted to up my dose but then give me a sleeping pill.Dumb idea,so I just quit the Topomax. My migraines come from multiple causes, also I have daily headaches from multiple causes. All I can do is treat them as I get them,well-most of them. I already use 8 Imitrex injections and 9 Amerge pills per month. The rest of the days are basically daily headaches from my neck problems, not related to stress.

I get menstrual migraines, I guess from a hormone embalance? I have used Imitrex for years and it helps most of the time. My doctor recommended that we try Topomax, however once I read all the side effects and that it makes ortho tri cyclen less effective I decided not to take it.
In takeing a more natural approach I started takeing Xango mangosteen juice supplement and so far it seems my headaches are not as frequent :) I am a work in progress. I started selling and takeing this juice because of the awesome results my father in law had for fighting his prostate cancer.
Check it out at http://mangosteeneffect.com and if interested let me know so you can get it wholesale.
Take care and God Bless, Serena

Yes, I do take topamax for my migraine headaches. I also take axert and neurontin for them also.I have been taking these 3 medications for my headaches for over 6 years now. But I still get a headache every day. It is not a very bad headache, but I take b.c. powder all the time.I do occasionaly get very bad headaches and have to go to the emergency room. But I suppose if I did not take these 3 medications daily I would get worse headaches.I was taking a larger dose of the topamax. I am now down to 200 Mg. a day but with that and the neurontin, I just really stay spaced out. It seems like I am really like a zombie most of the time.I wish you luck.
