Difficult topic. While I am deeply opposed to illegal immigration, I also don't much like the "tattle tale" society we have become. We teach our children not to tattle, and then the adults tattle all the time. Seems contradictory. So I am truly not sure what the answer to this one should be. Food for thought though - thank you.

Do you really think that tattling is a bad thing when we are talking about criminals? What about someone who may be a terrorist? I would deifnitely want to teach my kids to come forth and "tattle" to potentially save people's lives. I think they should also "tattle" when it comes to getting rid of criminals

Another thought - how would anyone know if someone was here legally or illegally? Go up to strangers on the streets and demand to see their paperwork? Absolute, first hand knowledge of a crime is one thing. Every citizen has the responsibility to report first hand knowledge of a crime; otherwise they are just as guilty as the person who committed the crime. But how does one identify an illegal alien? Report everyone who is of a different ethnic background? To broaden it - report everyone for everything that we don't like? Call the police if we don't like the fact our neighbors are arguing? Call the police if we think our neighbors have too much company? That is what I meant by tattle tale society. Too many people think that the government should be involved in everything, when - unless they have first hand knowledge that a crime has been committed - they really should just mind their own business. My two cents.

It's rewarding to perform your civic duty and report illegal activity. The hotline to report illegal immigrants in Arizona is 602-876-4154. I've read reports that it's ringing off the hook!

We received a church notice that a man who had entered the States legally on a visa was denied application to stay in the States. Although the others here said it was because of terrorism, I believe the many illegal immigrants in the States have something to do with it. Their presence is preventing people who come to the States legally from staying here and in time, the criteria may be such that only if you show signs of torture, such as broken arms, burn scars, and such, you may be turned back to your own country. So I believe Americans should be rewarded for turning in Illegal Immigrants, but only after the latter have been warned and told to report to their country's counsel or embassy or the INS and failed to do so.
