Make sure to get a policeman/woman that knows the law pertaining to rents, not all police know all the laws pertaining to renting.

You have to have broken your lease in some way for him to evict you. Or if he has sold the property. There are tenant laws to protect you and you need to know these laws.(laws differ from state to state) He can not put you out without proper notice. This notice should be delivered to you by a sheriffs deputy or another branch of the law. It has to state why you are receiving the notice and how many days you have to move. In some cases it can be as little as 72 hours. Good luck

landlords will try to do alot of things cause they want someone out.
If you pay your rent or not they have to goto the court, for eviction.
If they do what you say he is. Then its unlawful eviction and you can sue him.
If you are paying rent, he knows the court will not evict you.
I myself as a lawyer told me once.. would find another place to live as soon as possible..do you want a landlord like this...?
Hope this helps anyone out there..

Where do you live? If you live in the right place, it's an unlawful eviction. (You maybe able to sue him (in the right place for treble damages.) Contact an attorney immdiately!
