By "homosexual unions", do you mean civil unions? Anger seems to run quickly through my veins when I hear people tell homosexuals that they can simply just go get an civil union. Just because it might be better than nothing does not mean it is a good idea. You still do not have half of the rights that a married couple has in the eyes of the law. Such as the right to see your lover in a hospital, even if he was dying. They are also apparently not recognized by the federal government. What this means is a couple with a civil union will not be able to get benefits such as tax breaks or file joint tax returns. And these are just one of the many things a civil union does not provide. People need to start understanding that marriage is not just a religious ceremony, even if they are some groups of people who choose to believe they are. Marriage is a bond that the government recognizes. The fact is that a married couples get rights under the law. You may see it as a religious ceremony. How do you feel about two atheists marrying? Or the fact you can go get married in a court? The truth is marriage has changed. What you believe is not what everything believe, or the truth in some cases. So what if you believe marriage is between a man and a woman? That is what your believe. That is still not a valid reason to make gay marriage illegal. The government should not make laws just based off some people's morals. You have your morals, fine. But do not let it affect other people's choices and rights. People have told me that gay marriage is wrong and disgusting because they do not have the ability to reproduce together and have children. I forgot. When did marriage have anything to do with having children? Are you going to start banning child free people because they do not want a child? What about people who can not have children due to medical reasons? Or people who have gone through menopause?
