How do you feel when someone burns a cross?
How about people bad mouthing Christians, or Jews, or Muslims?
How do you feel about people bad mouthing Scientology?
well, if you believe that its okay to bad mouth scientology, then its also okay to bad mouth Christians right?
but what about islam? how do you feel about sites like "the religion of peace" where it sites down all of the killings on behalf of islam?
my point is, if one is okay, its all okay.. so free will wins, right?
what do you think?

It depends on the reason. If it is on someones lawn and a rascist thing it's not good. Actually I kind of laugh at the idiots doing it because the cross is suppose to be a good thing and the fools doing it have no idea what they are doing.
Actually that's the only reason I've ever heard of someone burning a cross.

The people doing it should take a look at themselves and see what their religion says about tolerance and loving another human being.
How do you feel about people bad mouthing Scientology?
I don't know much about scientology, just what I saw about it on South Park. If that truely is what they beleive then I might even question them on their beliefs.
Just for the record I myself do not follow any organized religion. I don't like any of them, mainly because of the "we are right' attitude and closed mindedness most of them have. I also do not beleive in god or any afterlife or anything like that. Not sure how we got here or really what happens when we take the dirt nap.

First the burning of a cross to me is more a racist thing. It is sad and evil but not because of religion but because of the torment and horror it holds for the people it is aimed at. As for as religion goes you are right, if one religion wants to denounce another religion then they should expect the same treatment. It really bugs me when people arguing religion try to use the saying the bible is Gods word, it is not Gods word it is the word of man inspired by God.

I didn't say the word of God written by man, I said the word of man inspired by God. There is a difference. The word of God written by man is just like you said someone transcribing for someone else. The word of man inspired by God is someone telling others what they believe is the way God wants us to live and believe in the spirit world and after life. The bible is not, in my opinion, anything divine or of God it has been changed so many times and so much has been removed to suit the religious world that it is not now if it ever was of God. Don't get me wrong it is a great guide to living a good life and a wonderful collection of stories but that is about it. Now back to the topic of this discussion, it bugs me when people try to use sayings like the bible says so and the bible is the word of God or you just have to have faith because they are not giving an answer to the question or problem they are covering up an inability to give a solid answer. How can Christianity say they are the right religion and all others are wrong or miss lead, the answer that a Christian gives Because the bible says so. I say if a person wants to say why they feel their religion is the right one then they should learn about (I mean really learn not take a course offered by their church) the other religions they are denouncing. My mother-in-law is a minister and she says all the time that some religion is wrong or a type of music is wrong or a way of doing something is wrong because she took the course offered by her church or by the ministry and she know that is the way things are. A great example is pagans worshiping Satan; pagans don't worship Satan we don't even believe in Satan but her church and ministry taught her that we do in a course she took to learn how to deal with the threat of Satan in the youth today. The bottom line is that no one religion can give a solid reason why they are the true religion so nobody should be denouncing others for their faith. Just to be clear I am not denouncing anyone faith here but I am denouncing people making decisions and causing conflict and hurt when they don't know what they are talking about. I met a man around Christmas time that was a great example of someone knowing what they are talking about, he was a Wiccan turned Christian he knew about the faith he was turning away from and could soundly answer questions and never once used a cover up line, that is what I call a good argument for his new faith.

The problem we have with either one as well as what the Bible says or doesn't say is the way people today want to interpret what our forefathers Meant by "Freedom of Speech" First of all they did NOT mean Freedom of Expression as some try and state. They meant exactly what it says they meant. The freedom to say what you wish about anything or anyone period without repercussions. Should they all be resurrected today they would set out to immedeately overthrow our current Government and officials.
Second Freedom of Religion meant the right to freely worship on which ever day you choose but that others had the same right and that no one was to take away anyones right to worship as he or she honestly believed.
But our nation is bending more and more to ONE WORLD ORDER and so they want POLITICALLY CORRECT ORDER and soon we will be told We have ONE WORLD RELIGION.

All Americans of all faiths have freedom of speech. That means that you can bad mouth anyone or thing. But is it right to bad mouth a religion or group? No.

I believe everyone has the right to badmouth whatever belief system they want. I don't think it's okay, and I definitely don't agree with it - but I won't deny it's a right granted by the freedom of speech. Just because it offends me doesn't mean it should be banned or censored. I do wish that people wouldn't do it, though. Tolerance is a golden personality trait.

You are right, free speech is free speech, and free religion is free religion. Now that I said that there has been wars over religion as long as time, I do not understand why someone can kill in the name of God. No one has been able to explain that to me.
I know when we say things bad about other religions it is because we do not always understand them.

Well, first of all, if you ask the scientologist, it isn't a religion - tho L. Ron Hubbard made a bet at an early Worldcon that he could invent a religion. So, I'm kind of guessing that scientology isn't quite in the same boat as the rest.
As for citing deaths inflicted by religions, none of them can be found free of killings.
Start with the Jews wanting the killing of Jesus.
Once Christianity was the major religion then they have blood on their hands.
And even the Hindu and Buddists are not free from a history of killing.
I don't think telling the truth is bad mouthing, lies are.

No, i don't think i'd feel bad if someone mouths my religion. its their point of view... i'd surely say that it is racism but every people have different thought. There are even people who believes exactly the opposite you think.... i don't care what others think unless the things you are doing are right....
And i don't think there is any solution to this everlasting problem. The only hope is that everyboby should keep their mouth shut!!!!
