In your house, who makes most of the meals? Do you and your partner share the responsibility? Maybe your children or housemates cook some nights?

I do most of the cooking at my house. My boyfriend will cook sometimes, but he doesn't really know how to make many things and eventhough I try to teach him...he doesn't seem all that interested. So that means that when my boyfriend cooks, we are limited to having pasta with sauce from a jar or some kind of meat that he just cooks up in the frying pan. Sometimes this bothers me because I would like for us to share the responsibilies more, but then again I really enjoy cooking and the best part is that if I cook, my boyfriend has to clean everything up.

Amen! If I'm going to slave away in the kitchen then someone else is definitely going to wash the dishes! (even though I do clean as I go) Atleast he's making some sort of effort, even if it's only minimal =P Thanks for responding =D

Hi, being the mother and wife, i normally do the cooking, as its whats followed in most households in our country. Not that my spouse does not help me around, infact at times hed take over the whole meal for the day,and give me a break. My kids too at times, when they are in a good mood and want to try out things they have heard about, or things that their friends brought for tiffin, love to try and make those things at hoem, thus giving me a break. Of course, they are still young, so keep asking me how and what to do next, and i guide them through the process. So its a combination of all of us making up the meals, though i do the main cooking. And i think its fun when we are all working at things together.

Thanks for the response, yes its lots of fun to cook together and my mother and me also used to make a lot of things together, similarly am teaching my kids alongside sharing and having fun with them. And at times, all four of us as a fmaily cook up a meal as well :)

Sounds like a fair household to me =D It's great that your kids want to try out new things in the kitchen at a young age - that's when I started as well, and it was great to do that with my mum. =D

My husband does most of the cooking. It's just part of the way chores got divided up.

I dream about having someone else in my house cook instead of me doing it 99.9% of the time. I make all meals, do all the dishes (oh here comes the violin ... lol) My 12 y/o son does make his own snacks, which always consist of Instant Noodles. And on the odd occassion he makes Scrambled Eggs, and if Im lucky he'll make me some too, I actually enjoy his Scrambled Eggs, he's got the knack to making them so fluffy.

I do most of the cooking in our house. Or, at least, I do most of the experimenting in the kitchen. LOL! When I'm working, my partner does most of the cooking, because I'm working. On days that I'm off or when I'm not working, I cook. I love cooking and I love having rule over the kitchen. I don't like to have a whole lot of help, either. But it's always nice when someone can do the dishes after I'm done. LOL!

I'm with you on that! When I'm cooking, it's my domain. Everyone else can occupy themselves in another, non-kitchen-related activity, and if they dare to ask when dinner will be ready.... =P It's all about the experimental cooking! And having someone else to clean up the mess.

My spouse will do for it unless for spaghetti, I will look on my own quality for macaroni and prepare the rest until done(with shrimp sauce). The only menu that I can cook.

I am the main cook in the house but I love to cook for starters and I'm retired so it only makes sense that since I'm home anyway I do the cooking and baking etc...not to mention my husband cant cook worth a crap LOL ;-) He apparently makes a mean Manwich and Hamburger Helper but thats about as far as it goes LOL...My kids sometimes cook though, my daughter has made full meals for the family and she loves to help me with dinner..95% of the time though I'm the chef ;-)

I'm forever grateful to my mum for a lot of things, but certainly for making me into a killer chef =D Cooking's so fun, and it's certainly something I'd like to pass on. Too bad your hubby's useless in this area =P Does he help with the cleaning up? I always like to get my man to give me a hand there, if he doesn't make a meal, it keeps him in shape. lol

My wife does it most of the time, though I do it but once in a while. She is a very good cook, better than me! But the kids erally do relish a meal being prepared by me!

I don't really like to cook, but it's one of the things that I have to do. I'm the one home all the time, so it's one of the things that just falls to me. My husband usually tries to cook at least one meal on the weekend, and he lets me get by with a hamburger helper and/or a frozen pizza for a couple of meals during the week. I do try to cook real meals most of the time, though. When my son is old enough, I'm going to have him to help him some with cooking. He's only 18 months old, though, so I still have a while before he's ready.

18 months, eh? Never too young to start =P lol It's a shame that you don't enjoy cooking, I hope you learn to love it as you start to teach your son =D

In our house I do most of the cooking. Once inawhile my husband will cook a meal. He is a good cook. I like sharing the cooking and clean-up chores. It makes everything go so much faster.
