What a combination. My teeth have move out of line and I have difficulty chewing effectively. That led to some TMJ pain.
So my dentist sent me to an orthodontist to get my bite back in line and avoid TMJ surgery. I only have braces on the bottom front teeth, so they aren't terribly noticeable. The slow down my eating - and that's a good thing! But at this point they aren't too uncomfortable. I expect they will be more uncomfortable after the first adjustment.
Did you ever have braces? I had no clue what it would be like. So many things I either am not allowed to eat or eating his less enjoyable because it is more difficult. Food gets stuck behind the wire and has to be rinsed out. Yuk.
What can you tell me about how this will proceed? Will it indeed become more uncomfortable? I think they said I'd have them on for fourteen months. Seems like a long time to go without popcorn or chewey candy. :-)

you're not the only one my friend, at first it will be a bit uncomfortable since you are adjusting to having some foreign object in your mouth, but as the days pass you will get use to it. just remember you are lucky to have your teeth still intact unlike others who are into dentures.

You are right! Both my parents had false teeth by the time they were fifty. I have mostly mine, with crowns, so I'm ahead of the game.
