Yeah sure, seems the same happening as you're. It is called as paired reading. And an effective way to stimulate the right brain to be more reactive and active.
This is the connection between listening and reading, the connection of left and right brain.
Other integrative functions such as intuitive or heuristic arithmetic, binaural sound localization, emotions, etc. seem to be more bilaterally controlled.[5]

Hi JaMal82! When I read, I really want it to be quiet. I don't listen to music because it somehow distract me from my reading but when I get so focused on my reading I tend to be oblivious to the things around me, so if ever someone make a noise, I will not even noticed it. Take care and have a nice day!

In college I did much of my reading and studying in the music library, listening to whatever classical music was on the menu for that day. Now I do much of my reading online while my husband watches TV. Each of us has remote controlled personal speakers, so if something on the TV attracts my attention, I can turn the sound on. Similarly, if I see something on the computer that I want him to see, I can beam it over to his TV screen, but I usually wait until a commercial, lol.

Yes, I listen to music when I read 'coz I find it boring when there is no sound in the background.

it's pending about what I read.
If I read for fun I always listen music. But if I work or translate something i make mistakes because i listen the music's lyric too.
Another thing is the learning. When I learn something I listen my favourites and dont care about the lyrics, but easier can keep informations in my mind if i listening my fav. music.
