I have a few recipes for making Friendship bread but have never made it. Im worried it's not going to turn out right or taste good. Has anyone every made it, I'd be interested in knowing what it tastes like and any suggestions for making it.

I always make the Amish Friendship Bread...it's the one that takes 10 days to make the batter. That kind I know for sure is really good. It's kind of like a spice cake with all the cinnamon and vanilla flavoring. I like to make it in mini loaf pans. The only trouble I've ever had with it was from overfilling the pans, either the middles didn't bake or the outsides got over baked. That is the only kind I've tried. If you don't have the recipe for it let me know. I'll look it up and give it to you.

My husband was raised Mennonite and they have a Friendship Bread. I lost the Mennonite cookbook, however when we moved to Manitoba. I think what it is that you make the starter, it takes ten days to ferment and when you make a loaf and give some starter to your friends. Mind you, if you go to Cooks.com you will see several starter recipes. http://www.cooks.com/rec/search?q=Amish+Friendship+Bread+Starter I never made it myself, but I did have some. Mind you, it was made into biscuits. and I also had the Friendship Cake, which was probably a sort of fruit bread, but it has been at least thirty years ago since I had it.
