exgirlfriend situation

Ok here is the situation. Me and my exgirlfriend are trying to work things out. We were together before for 4 1/2 years but we grew apart. We have been apart for almost a year now. She did have a boyfriend after me. I do love her and would like to give it another chance but the only thing that is getting to me is that she still wants to be friends with her last boyfriend. She was like they may talk on the phone every now and then, if he is around he might stop by and she will go outside to talk to him, or if they run into each other they will talk. I know that we are not together yet but I still don't like the fact that she is still talking to him because i feel that it is holding us back. I know I shouldn't be getting mad because we are not together but males if you were in my shoes, how would you handle this situation? Am I taking this the wrong way? Ladies, feel free to respond also.
