Let me start out by saying 14monthes ago I had surgery done I herniated a disc in my cervical spine. And I was doing great. Till a couple of weeks ago I started getting pain again. So I went to the doctor and yesterday I went for an MRI. My doctor just called me with the bad news I have another herniated disc.So they have faxed my MRI to my neurogislist. Now I sit and wait for furthur instructions. Please say a prayer for me I dont think I could go through another surgery. Im so scared. Im always telling everyone here to be strong and I dont think I can be strong this time.

How scary. I know there are some medical situations I think that I could seriously never go through again. I just hope you really don't have to do a repeat surgery. I'll be praying for you, and the neurologist that they would make the absolute best decision for you.

I am so sorry to hear that, TerryZ. How old are you? My mother has a deteriorated disc on her spine too and she is looking for a second opinion because she wants surgery and her doctor do not advise her to go through surgery since she is already 70 years old. But she doesn't resist the pain. If God will, she is going to seek this second opinion. As for you, I am going to put you in my prayers and may the Lord heal you and you don't go through surgery.

That's a smart decision. Take the meds he suggests, even if you get gooned out for a bit, it's better than the pain. If you follow the instructions you won't get addicted, believe me after over two years juggling prescriptions under a very good doctor, I am still ok. It's all in doing what you're told.

Thanks my friend. I dont want surgery again. Ive been through it. But sometimes they have to do surgery because how the disc is herniated it can lean against your spinal cord and then you will paralized. I will do what my doctor says. I appreciate your prayers I need them.LOL

I just said a prayer for you and asked God to heal you so that you don't have to go through another surgery. Remember that even if you do need another procedure, you do not have to be strong, you can lean on God and family and allow them to be your strength.
Be well!

I am sorry to hear that Terry and I will keep you in my prayers. I know what it is like to have a herniated disc and even though I opted for non surgical treatments i.e. physio, I'm sure your neurologist will suggest the best cause of action or treatment to take. Take care!

I am so sorry to hear this about your health. I found this discussion because I just started a similar on about my little sister who also had surgery on her back about a year ago and now they found another herniated disc and she is scheduled for surgery this friday. I will keep you in my prayers and I hope by now you have heard something from your doctor. I hope you feel better soon.

I am so sorry to hear about your herniated disc. I hope and pray that God will touch your hernia and put everything in place again so that doctors won't have to cut you open again. Your age are really prone to herniated disc so be careful when moving to avoid more complications. However, in my age, I think I got it too. Although I never had my back check by doctors because I am afraid of what they might find. I feel all the symptoms of herniated discs; I can not even sit sometimes because of excruciating pain in my lower back.
I'm gonna say a little prayer tonight for you before I sleep. Cheers!

You have my prayers and big hugs (gently)!!
I know the pain you have. I suppose it's all a matter of how you look at things, but if surgery can help you, then do it, of course after several opinions. I don't fear surgery anymore, I guess because I have had it for so many different reasons over my life, but it can't help my back pain. I would go for surgery to fix my pain soooo fast if they had such a thing. Even vitamins and supplements can't help me. If you can get help from surgery, get yourself referred to a good specialist and do it.
A friend of mine had a disk that had calcium deposits growing inside it, closing around the sciatic nerve and causing him terrible pain. The surgeon went in to fix what he thought was a slipped disk and found the calcium deposits. He fixed it in that surgery which was supposed to be only exploratory. It was very scary for him and for all of us who were close to him. He survived it and healed up within a few months and was better than new. I have wished I could do that now, but it's not the same problem so I am out of luck there. He was only 23 at the time and it was over 30 years ago and he's never had anymore trouble.
I don't have a herniated disk but they thought that was what I had because my pain is so intense. First my doctor who is an MD and an osteopath did some manipulations and that really didn't help, in spite of the regular xrays telling him it should. After a few weeks he decided I should have some more tests. It took our wonder efficient provincial medical system almost a year to get me scheduled for a NRI...Nuclear Resonance Image... which revealed that I have arthrosis and am actually missing the cartelige between two sets of disk (4 disks in total) in two different locations in my lower spine. They told me it will basically deteriorate and get worse as I get older. Back pain and treatment can be scary for sure. Mine is only treated with various meds (coming to a huge total each week - more than I eat in food in a month).
Go for it hon. Godspeed, hugs.

OMG--I'm sorry I'm so late with this but I haven't been here until just now....Now you know very darn well that not only will I say prayers for you but I'll get my two kitties in on it also. I don't think anyone looks forward to the idea of another surgery, especially if it caused a lot of initial pain afterwards in a previous one. So yes, TerryZ I have you in my prayers!! (((((hugs))))

I pray for you so that you don't have to go for another one right now. But I don't know is there any other way to cure it. It is painful so if its there you will have pain sometime. So I also pray for you so that if you have to go for curing it, you can be strong enough to overcome it. You will find the strength my friend.
