So I put my spagettie sauce on this morning and I always cook it in the crockpot. It turns out good and I dont have to worry about it burning. I go out to stir it and its cold!I checked it with all the other outlets and no it fryed. I love that crockpot and its about 12 years old now. LOL I guess I dont owe it anything.LOL So now IM cooking it on the stove. Geez I dont think this my day.LOL

I think mine is about that age as well, it's the Rival Crockpot, the brown one. I was down at Value Village, that's our thrift shop up here that is something like Goodwill, and there was the same one that I had, and not only that, there were some of the newer and larger ones that people usually get for wedding presents. I have not made spaghetti sauce in mine, but I have made pot roasts, and chicken soup, not turkey soup, because it is too large.
Probably the element has gone. You could have it checked by an electrician. Take it down to the nearest hardware store or call the company.

I love my crockpot as well, so I know how you feel about it breaking. I don't know what I'd do without mine. How would I make beef stew or chicken soup!?
Good luck finding another one that will serve you well:) I hope your day goes better.

The very same thing happened to me about 6 months ago. Like yours, my crock pot was quite old. We were out that same evening shopping for a crock pot! That is just one of those items that we cannot do without in this house! I cook in it 2-3 times per week because when I get home from work I am just too tired to cook.

I hate when one of my beloved kitchen gadgets bite the dust I take it personally lol. I have a crockpot that is over 20 years old it is the old metal ones with the ceramic over lay and it has a metal hot plate base. I love that thing. I also have newer ones too. (I am a crock pot addict too). It is just so convenient.

Good thing you didn't leave it and expected to have a nice warm meal waiting for you when you got home at the end of the day. Time to purchase a new one. I love my Rival crock. It has a step down system that automatically goes to warm once the cooking is over.

Sorry to hear about that, Terry. I know I would run right out and buy another one and I only use mine maybe once or twice a month.
But you have me curious. I never thought of making my spaghetti sauce in the Crock Pot. I'm always complaining because it is bland knowing full well it hasn't simmered long enough. Why didn't I think of the Crock Pot?
So what do you do? Just put the ground beef, sauce and spices (including onions and garlic) and turn it on and let it cook? Please let me know because I am definitely going to slow cook my next batch of spaghetti sauce!

Well, that's too bad. I guess you have to buy a new one to replace the crockpot. Did it take a long time to cook the spaghetti sauce? Are you doing it from scratch?

I'm sorry to hear that, but at least you still have your cook stove. I, on the the other hand, watched my electric stove a couple of nights ago, shoot sparks and die. It was so sad, I felt like crying. She wasn't that old, so who'd have thought it would happen? The part they told me would cost,(if I got the generic brand), 270.00. If I got the Maytag one, would be 340.00 plus. Guess who's buying a new cook stove instead. I hate the thought of paying off my credit card for a new stove, but I'd rater pay 450.00 for a new stove, than 270.00 for a part. At least I'm getting a black one to match my refrigerator, this time. Maybe you and I can bury our appliances together. lol

My cousin bought me a crock pot a couple of years ago and I love mine as well . Maybe you will luck out and find one for a good price or like someone else said if you could find one at a garage sale . Even if you bought one now and still found one at a garage sale for times like this when it fries itself out and then you are not in a panic on how to get another one . Best of luck !!

It's a conspiracy thing, girl. No, I'm sorry one thing after another keeps happening. Just a tip for the crockpot. If you go to some really nice garage sales, you can find one for a good price. My mom had one, but bought my sister one she found at an estate sale. It looked brand new.

That was a good run for the crockpot:) I know I love mine too. Especially when making sauce. I have a nesco, like a crockpot, and I lost the power cord to it. I have searched high and low. I called the company to see about buying a new cord, but they don't make them like that anymore:( I ended up buying a new one...I use it too much to not replace it.

What a bummer about your crockpot. Lasted a pretty long time though. I have 2 crockpots and love cooking in them. It saves so much time, and the food comes out great everytime.
