Well you have to go and see the night market or patpong as it's known as there is bargains galore to be had - also lots of 'ping pong' shows where the ladies throw ping pong balls from there 'bit's!! It's funny but be careful as if the girls in there try to give you a massage they will want paying so politely decline!
Also if you like culture go and see the grand palace or the reclining buddha which are great sites. The MBK center is the biggest shopping centre where agian you can loads of bargains. Also try the floating market to experience something a little different! To get to Pattaya then it is best to get on the local rail or buses as these are really cheap - Pattay is known for it's scene with men picking up women but at the same time it's also got loads going on for nightlife with plenty of bars and restaurants etc.
Hvae fun as as long as you are careful the way you should be in any country you will have a great time. The thai people are some of the friendliest on earth and when greeting people the common term is to put your hands together, flat like in prayer and bow your head slightly. Hello is said 'Sawatdee Khrab' which is pronounced 'swa de ka'
Have fun it's a brilliant place!

I've been to Bangkok a few months ago. It is truly a beautiful country with beautiful people. I suggest that you visit the Pratunam market for bargains and the Platinum mall for fashionable clothes. Take a tour and visit the floating market and the Chao praya river.

You can watch Siam Niramit...... www.siamniramit.com ........ Thailand's history and its culture.
It is actually truly a spectacular show with very good special effects. You will be amaze how they were able to have the floating market inside the stage....
You wont go hungry coz there is also a dinner buffet before the start of the show. There is also a photo opportunity for you to be lifted by the trunk of an elephant. Pretty exciting just as long as you don't breath. The elephant stinks.....he smells like a piss
You could also go to Royal Dragon Restaurant (guiness book world's largest restaurant with a seating capacity of 5000). They have a very good peking duck and it would only cost you (around 650 baht). There is also a cultural show so be sure to book in advance so you get the chance to have the table near the stage reserve for you.
For Pattaya trip......I know a few who rides the bus to go there. But be very careful going there. Most Farangs (thai term for americans and europeans) foreigners) I get to talk with who are in and out of Thailand discourages me to go there. They said if I am a guy looking for some "fun" (not a clean one) then go ahead and go there.
