Passive income . Why is it called so ?

You are likely to aware of the frequent use of the term "Passive Income" in the ads of MLM , Internet Marketing , Home Based Business sites . I have also been with some of tham lately .
You might also be aware that , in this field the main task is to advertise your product or site so that people visit your site . For that , you have to put your site on number of traffic exchange site or any other type of advertising sites .
That in turn requires you to involve yourself varous types of tasks like click on links , surf , rad email etc . particularly if you are going for free membership in such sites .
That in turn requires you to devote much time and patience . Then how can it be called PASSIVE INCOME ?

I know a website where you can make real passive income. All you have to do is put a banner on three of your websites' pages and you make $5 every month they are there.
