Do you change the oil in your car or do you have someone else do it?

Oh, I definitely do.
Some good reasons:
*I've known oil change places to screw things up on the engine. (In fact, wal-mart screwed up my parents' suzuki, and now it leaks oil with only 17,000 miles)
*Changing it yourself lets you be more acquainted with your engine, and you'll be more likely to notice something going wrong.
*Changing it yourself lets you choose the oil and filter to use, so you can get the good quality stuff that will make your car last longer. (I, for example, use oil with high-mileage additives and a heavy-duty filter, because I have an old truck that is used in harsh conditions.)

Lol. Nope, I always get someone else to do it. Like the guy at the gas station or the mechanic whenever I send my car for service. Don’t think I know how to change it myself hehe… .

I never try before as I find it is quite dirty and messy to do it. I normally send my car to a nearby automobile service station for motor oil changing regularly. The service is good and the charge there is reasonable so I like to have the oil changed in this way. Since I ever had my first car I had been sending them to the same service station for any repairs and oil changing. The mechanics there are skillful and friendly. I did call them for emergency help several times when my car broke down somewhere in my town. They often offered their helping hands readily.

There are several reasons I DO NOT change my own oil.
#1. It's a dirty job to do. If you don't have a shop (or garage etc...) to change your oil or know how to do it you can make quite a mess.
#2. You have to get rid of the oil, which means going to the oil change facility to begin with.
#3. I use 100% synthetic oil which I can get well over 10,000 miles on one oil change... that makes the cost/mile (even though the oil is very expensive) almost nothing.
#4. By taking the car to a good lube place but buying your own oil and filter at Wal-Mart can keep the prices down. I have found that if I DO get my oil changed at Wal-Mart I will be there for three or four hours. Literally.
