Need information about pitcher plants....

I have recently purchased a north american pitcher plant and I want to grow it indoors. I know all about the soil conditions and watering the plant,but what I don't know is what to do when the plant hits its dormancy period. Can you put the plant in the refrigerator during this period? Should I take it to my basement? Any suggestions and information will be greatly appreciated.
