Stay at home moms - how often do you go outside with your baby?

If you're a sahm - especially of babies - do you go outside alot - to walk or just hang out? Do you go on errands a lot - and if so do you stop at parks to watch other kids? We have tons of parks - even a track on base surrounded by trees with a big grassy field in the middle. When its really hot though, as it has been lately a hundred degrees or more I don't like to take him out - how about you?

We go outside and play in our own yard three or four times a day for about 15 minutes or so at a time. We do it when we are letting the dogs out to potty and my son loves running around chasing them. I just have to make sure we avoid the places they've just gone! :) We also go for walks about 3 times a week. My husband tries to run at the gym the other 4 days, and then we take the dogs and our toddler and go walking on the days he doesn't run. Usually my son will walk a couple of blocks and then get into his stroller for the next 6 or so, and then get out and walk again (He's 18 months old). When we go on base to do story time or grocery shopping, sometimes we stop at the park. It depends on how tired he is. We try to get most things all done on the same time so we don't use so much gas, so it makes it harder to give him time to play. We don't have any parks in our small town.

So does your husband work on base? Sounds like you're well rounded!

With how hot its been we haven't taken her out much lately. Just to run errands mostly. But last night it was so nice out that I went & put a blanket on the grass under the shade and let her stay out for about a half an hour. She loved it. She was giggling and clapping. She loves being outside...I don't think she's going to do well during the winter.

When I had just one, we went out whenever the weather would allow. We live In Oklahoma, and have the same prob. here with the heat.. it reaches 100 degrees most summer days.. *ugh* (: But if you leave early enough, you can usually miss it. We only have one car, so our only form of transport was to walk, but we have always lived close enough to things to do that. Now that there are two of them, it can be more difficutl, but we still make it out. I have a bike trailer and i put them on that and out we go. I think it's great exersize and it's good for the boys.

I used to take my kids out alot. It seemed to help them sleep better, getting all the fresh air. We would go out in the early morning if it was hot...or swimming (or splashing). Since I was the one home with the kids, I would take them out to run errands and go to the store.

if it is really hot then I take my baby to the mall or somewhere that cool enough for her to play around. I always go out with my baby, I can't stay in one place tho.

I would do that if I could. I just try to go out really really early if its super hot. Sometimes we walk over to the base library. Since I've never driven we have to go to places nearby. The library always seems to make him cry though - although its cooler than outside - which isn't great for libraries!

I don't really have much choice sometimes, like if there are things I need to go out for I have to take my toddler with me. I'd hate to stay in with him anyway and he loves being outside so we go for walks and to the park and things when we get the chance. Living in the middle of England, you have to be prepared to grab any opportunity at a moments notice because you never know what the weather will do! If the weather is severe ie. extremely hot or extremely cold or stormy or something, I will stay in if I have to but generally I make sure we are outside at least 4 times a week - and during term time, I have to take my other child to school 5 days anyway and often have no choice about taking my toddler because my partner works odd hours! I think even if I didn't have to take him out with me, I still would as much as possible because it's good for them to be outside.
