Well as of right now I am a male nursing student, male nurses are increasing in the health care field. I was wondering what is your outlook on male nurses?

I have been in the hospital loads, and have plenty of experience with male nurses looking after me. I find that they are alittle more nervous than females, understandably I guess, with all the miscommunications that could go on between a patient and nurse, so I think a little more condifence suits. They rely on humour a lot more than females, which is ok, but belies the nervousness, lol, although it is a good ice breaker, humour nearly always is good.I also think they are relied on too much for things like restraint of a patient, I once saw 4 female nurses signalling like mad to one male nurse to help retstrain someone, who was female, so he didnt necessarily want to, any one of the females could have tried and probably suceeded to say nothing about the four of them.Good for you, an awesome profession!

maybe males look kinda toughier but they can be very caring too like females. who says nursing is just for females?..i have a lot of male classmates taking up nursing too, and i believe that they are very good and will do excel well too in the nursing field. :)
