I recently came from a business trip to China. The country is nice. Or maybe the place that I went to (Zhuhai City, Guangdong)is nice. Clean ocean front and huge highways. There is the mixture of the old and new architecture which makes the place interesting. Though most of them do not speak English, I find the people okay. They're very accomodating and courteous. However, while I'm there there's a feeling of unhappiness in the country ... must be the bad press they're having now due to the toy recalls and food scares. Eventhough it is a communist country, I like China. But China also scares me (not politically). The country feels like a growing tumor - economic wise. Something unchecked and unexpected ... and I feel something's going to go wrong. The slew of substandard quality is just the start. Hopefully, I am wrong. Otherwise, third world countries with very lenient checking, like the one I am living now, will be flooded with those substandard products. Good thing I don't eat White Rabbit candies. Tsk, tsk, tsk.
